I, for one, actually prefer the 9.5 radius and bigger frets. That's why I I wound up getting my CP Jaguar in the first place. I'd become disatisfied with the neck on my old Musicmaster II, and was affirmatively looking for a guitar with the same scale length but not with the vintage neck specs. Diff...

I was really interested in this model after it came out, and eventually found one to play in a shop here. I thought it played well, and sounded good too. What I didn't like was: - Perhaps unsurprisingly, the difference in volume between the humbucker and the single coils was large, IMO. To switch fr...

Somebody please explain to me, why would somebody pay that much for a "Closet Classic" Mustang, when *real* old Mustangs are readily available and far less costly? Is there something actually different about these Mustangs? Aside for the color schemes which, as others have pointed out are ...

I'd imagine that just like with strat pickups, the materials and output varied between years and even individual examples. I'd imagine so, too. FWIW, his is a '62, mine is a '65 (in the neck, with a relatively recent bridge pickup), and mine sounds like his, pretty much. After listening just now to...

BTW, how would you folks characterize the original pickups (and I know they probably vary and tone is subjective) but would you say stratty, tele-like, woody, thin, fat, trebly, bassy,... etc. As I said before, my neck pickup definitely evokes a strat. A good one, at that. Both to me and my fellow ...

I feel up to the job and am planning to rout as little as possible to run the wires from the toggle. One little circle on the lower horn and a channel from there to the control plate. I may be wrong, and i don't care to open mine up, but FWIW I don't think the tech who did mine routed from the swit...

..Or Musicmaster II body, they were the same. Mine is a Musicmaster II and it had the same routing (and body).

Also, if one is not bothered about being "authentic looking", I might mention that I have those same original double-line Kluson Deluxe tuners on my Musicmaster II, and I put Gotoh Vintage Tuners, #GK1LC, from Warmoth, on my Jaguar. The Gotohs are much better tuners, in my opinion. Some da...

I'm not really in the "save the vintage body"camp, in this case. Truth is, the vintage body is not really worth particularly much. These aren't Stradivarii, they are a bunch of pieces of wood bolted together with pickups stuck in. That's true of all of them, but these models in particular ...

I have but two comments: 1) Make sure you locate the toggle far enough up the horn so that you never hit it when you strum; 2) On mine at least, the original 60s neck pickup sounds incredible, like a good 60s strat. I personally wouldn't give that tone up for any "Dimarzio" thing. But that...

IIRC, putting the toronado bridge on was not a completely trivial matter, there was more to it than just using a screwdriver. Which right there puts it beyond my personal capabilities, sad to say. It's curious that they changed the shape, particularly given that they had the original shape dialed in...

If the AVRI fits, then the Classic Player trem should fit too. As long as you're changing, I'd suggest you consider that one.
If you put the proper spring under the screw-in CP trem arm, the arm will stay where you put it.

Just because something is rare doesn't mean I necessarily want to be playing it. I would get the one I thought I'd rather play, personally. These are different enough guitars that one should be able to develop a preference based on their different specs. They are different in: Tone- production featu...

If you want hotter, Classic Player Jaguar single coil pickups are supposedly wound hotter than vintage or AVRI. Some people don't like them, but maybe those are the people who don't think a Jaguar should have hotter than vintage pickups. Other people seem to like them just fine. I can't pass judgeme...

I'm not sure why some of you are in such a snit about this. It's just a Mustang. Fender's student/entry guitar for the wealthier young teenagers, those whose parents sprung the bit extra $$ for that one instead of the ones without tremelo. These were certainly fair game for modding back in the day. ...

I have to say, I think the teal-colored one is attractive. I personally prefer the pickups and switch colors to contrast the pickguard, but whatever.
