What weird instruments do you own/lust after?

I have a ton of goofy things laying around that are interesting to toss into the mix every now and again... A melodica, a kalimba, a ukulele of course, assorted random percussion things, etc. But I just saw a noise band where one of the dudes had a suzuki omnichord (q-chord?) which is essentially an...

Ah, ok. I'm not sure, as I haven't played one. But if I stumble across one in a store somewhere I'll play it for a bit and let you know =)

I wanna say the epi jr is a '98 or '99, I'll check the serial # later to be sure. They turn up on ebay every now and again, and usually for pretty cheap. I saw three red ones go for under $200 in the months leading up to me buying the yellow one for $190 (and this was only maybe 6 months ago). It's ...

Well, I've been lurking for a few years, but finally posted and got some ideas on a fix in another thread, so I figured I'd post my collection and join the discussion "officially" as it were. I only have the one mustang, but it's my baby at this point. Here's an overview: http://thejoyofli...

ok silly_rabbit_band, here's a pic of the 'stang: http://thejoyofliving.net/lj/sm_mustang.jpg Its the '02 (or was it '01?) competition reissue. And here's a body shot (with my others) http://thejoyofliving.net/lj/sm_guitars.jpg I'll go post in the "gear here" thread too, since I'm kinda ne...

Pickup sinking complete, they're essentially mounted the way pickups are mounted (they're pickup mounting springs, actually): Before: http://thejoyofliving.net/mods/mustangswitchdrop2.JPG During: http://thejoyofliving.net/mods/mustangswitchdrop5.JPG After: http://thejoyofliving.net/mods/mustangswitc...

Yeah, I decided to get some longer screws and pickup springs and sink them by essentially mounting them the way pickups are mounted (in a fender anyway). The problem is finding screws. I need a 4-40 x 1" and home depot/lowes don't have them with the rounded top. I'll post pics once I get it don...

Yeah, figured as much. I might try to find some longer screws to mount them deeper in the body (barely not flush) and that would probly solve the problem too, and with much less effort. Thanks for the tip. I was thinking the bodies might be like those strat bodies with the massive cavity...

What does the routing look like in the MIJ mustang reissues?

I want to move the switches below the pickups (because I'm constantly hitting them when I play), is there room without routing?

That stewmac site looks pretty good, I bookmarked that sucker to come back to it later. If replacing the original p90 in the epi goes well (one of the pots is shot, so i'm going to replace everything) then i might try a pedal mod or two. I have an extra DS-1 i'm itching to do something to, i just do...

Recomendation for a good intro electronics/pickup/mod book?

I'm looking to start tweaking some of my guitars, but haven't done anything of the sort since high school, when I was sort of just soldering things together and hoping not to blow anything up. So does anyone know of a basics/mid-level book (or two or three) on guitar electronics I might want to look...
