Fender certainly did not do a good job providing enough information about all their product "innovations" The neck's "coil blend" pot was internally messed up on the one I played. It has the same pots and hardware as the regular CP Jag, just wired differently. The stock pickups w...

The bridge is different (TOM vs traditional) but the Tremplates are the same. As for the trems, Fender appears to be using some screw ins and some push ins. Mine is a screw in (not that I use it). I personally think that the trem is the one thing the MIM Jaguar/Jazzy falls down on compared to the C...

The whole problem with US opening up fully to foreign competition, particularly in cases of a near-commodity type factory-line product, is we really can't compete on price. We are not playing on a level playing field. Nations without our same cost of living, environmental and labor regulations can ...

Things might be different in the US, but over here, it really doesn't make monetary sense to pay the premium for an American Fender guitar. Hey, Mike... no worries, mate. We're good. There is about a $700 difference between the retail price of CP ($800) and AVRI ($1500) Jags and Jazzys here in the ...

Thanks... but I'm over the "attack" that never was. I've seen the light and all is well. But this has opened up a great discussion. Everything Al Gore intended in interweb to be. Absolutely is it reasonable to expect and see a difference in quality between a $700 guitar and a $1600 guitar....

Actually... I registered and signed up the first time I found this forum. I don't know Mike or anyone else here. The LAST thing I want to do is become that guy. I'm really not that easily offended. For my first time conversing with the guy, it seemed like a pretty harsh response. I'll take the commu...

This sounded directed at me - after all, I was the one that raised the issue.

I think Mike's just annoyed at people being snobbish over MIM stuff. When I read his post I read it as more a general fist shaking at the masses than directed at you. I might be wrong though. Hope so. I don't think I actually said anything that could be read with a rational mind and be considered o...

It could be condensed into "nothing is perfect". Whcih we all know, it's just that quite a few people underrate MIM stuff unjustly. Couldn't agree more, but don't just assume that is what I'm doing. I read what seemed to be a credible thread about spotty quality, asked a question, had fir...

Hey you know all those Vintage 50s and 60s Strats, Telecasters, Jaguars and Jazzmasters everyone covets? Do you know who they were made by? Unskilled Mexican labour in a factory just across the border. That's right - pull your head out of your arse and you might learn something. Whoa, Mike! That's ...

Mike wrote:It is a Classic Player. Anything you've heard about poor quality is bollocks. The pickups are far better than CIJ pickups and all the electronics looked spiffy to me when I modded it recently.

What mods did you make?

Nevermind.... I just read through your thread. Sensible mods. Good work.

the only reason why people complain about the MIM Jaguars is because they are made in mexico...Some people can seem to look beyond that... I've been impressed with the Classic Player series so far. I've spent some time with the strats and a Jazzy. The necks are phenomenal! I've had several MIM Fend...

if Bobroe wasn't retired right now and still was a machinist at Corning Glass he could make one in like 2 minutes. Any possibilities of a Brett Favre-like decision to come out of retirement? :D Mike, thanks for the info. Is that a Classic Player Jag in your avatar? If so, how do you like it? I've h...

Jaguar plate for toggle switch???

Brief introduction... Hello, gentleman. New to this forum (I'm woodyjunior at Harmony-Central and candypants at The Gear Page). I'm being seduced by the charms and allure of the shortscale. A Jaguar, in particular. This may be sacrilege here, but I'm considering a Classic Player HH Jag for the expre...
