That metal control plate is a custom control plate for a Fender Precision bass. So many people bust the plastic pickguards and this is designed to fix that.

Not into red either, but this colour is really nice. It's called 'Regency' red. It's left over paint from my Dad's car, which is ironically a Jaguar.
It's quite similar to Dakota red. I've used this paint before on another project, and it somehow glows on stage. It's really vivid.
