Topic: compensated saddles for Tele on a shortscale?

I tried a set of compensated saddles on my CV Duosonic and didn't think they intonated well. My Peterson Strobe tuner confirmed it. I ended up using a six saddle Strat hardtail bridge and intonation was significantly better. Maybe it makes a difference what gauge of strings you like. I use Gibson Br...

My scale choices have been made because I have arthritis in my hands. For bass, there's no comparison.....My shorty 25.5" Tele, 30" Gibson EB3, and 30.25" violin bass are much easier to play than my 34" Tele. The differences are still appreciable on guitars too.....My Tele Thinli...

I have four basses, three short-scales and one 34". My main one is the first build I did......a 25 1/2" scale Tele, plus a 30" Hofner violin bass, a 30" 63 Gibson EB3 with two Precision pickups, and a 34" build, originally a Tele guitar-style that's currently being rebodied ...

That guitar was built Matsumoku in 1968-1970 and was sold under several brand names.....Aria, Univox, Conrad, Raven, Toledo, and perhaps others. I owned one a couple of times and they're not bad. Intonation isn't perfect because of the six shared saddles, and the fretboard's fairly wide on them. The...

Sexy! Nice work! Maple body heavy? The maple body's reasonably lightweight, probably on the high side of seven pounds. I owned a 59 Tele a few years back and with it's swamp ash body. it was the lightest solid-bocy i ever owned. This is Canadian Broadleaf maple, and I assume there some differences ...

A finished project

This is my parts Esquire, based around a completely refurbished 59 Telecaster neck and a three piece maple body. It has a triple tapped Reilander custom wound pickup, Wilkinson bridge, Fender 50's pickguard, control panel, ashtray, and knobs, 250K pots with greasebucket tone circuit, and original 59...

Thanks for all the replies. I've been toying with the idea of doing a Mustang conversion, but it sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth. Anyway, a good learning experience for me. I owned a new 1970 Mustang for a few months and a Bronco for a short time in the eighties, but my memory is fuzzy...

Body question

Are the bodies for Duosonic, Musicmaster, and Mustang the same, but with differing hardware and pickguards? I'm wondering about converting a Duosonic reissue body into a Mustang.

I've been buying velcro in fabric stores. The stuff I've seen seems to be good quality, plus it comes on separate bulk rolls of hook side and loop side, so you can buy exactly as much of each as you need. It was cheaper than eBay too.

I'm not technically inclined either, but I do have one suggestion of something you could try yourself before taking it to a tech. One of the common methods of reducing the power on a Twin Reverb is to remove two of the 6L6 power tubes....either the two inside ones, or the two outside ones. (In theor...

I modded a tele down to 22.75. It still had enough tele twang in there. 24" scale would make a great tele as well. Go for it. I've built a 22.7" scale Tele, using a 65 Musicmaster neck, and it sounds like a Tele. This is it, along with my 25.5" scale bass. http://i396.photobucket.com...

As far as I know, the Squier mini uses conventional E - E tuning. I've never played one first-hand but my interest in them has cooled after reading some complaints in forums about intonation issues that are difficult to resolve and tuning instability. The mini might tell you if you can live with the...

I have a CV Duosonic that came with the 24" scale maple neck. I changed it to a 65 MusicmasterII 22.5" scale neck with rosewood board and felt that it was a better playing and sounding guitar afterward. Since then, I needed that 22.5" scale neck for my Cabronita Thinline, so the Duoso...

Wow, 20.75" scale? That would make my 22.5 and 22.7 DuoSonics seem big, lol! Now I've really got GAS for a shorty Rickenbacker.

One of the things I found surprising on that show I warched last night was the early clip of the Beach Boys. I'd always seen them with exclusively Fenders, but although Brian was playing a Precision, both the guitars were Rickenbackers. Incidentally, in the opening "British Invasion" segme...

Curious about Rickenbackers

I don't see much about the Rickenbacker six-strings here on ShortScale, although I've read online that they've made 22.5" scale guitars (such as the one Lennon played). I know Rickenbacker's not a bad word around here, as evidenced by the fake Ric bass thread, so i'm wondering....Are the Ric sh...

I didn't see that it was a 32" scale... perhaps that would help keep it from being neck heavy? Not sure about a 32" scale being neck heavy. I can tell you from my experience that with a 34" scale Precision neck, they're definitely a neck-diver. http://i396.photobucket.com/albums/pp43...

What is the story with that orange burst Tele bass!?!? The little Tele bass was my first attempt at modding, about five years ago. I bought a pair of damaged six string clones on eBay, and fixed and sold the Showmaster. The Tele wasn't much of a guitar but I'd been wanting another shortscale bass e...
