show me your rat guitar

Ya know, that guitar that you've had since you were 14 and is barely hanging on for life. The one people are surprised to find out it can still make "music." It's ugly as shit and looks like it was found at the bottom of a lake. High marks for: RUST; lots of dirty peeled of sticker residue...

its true that flatwounds on bass have a different sound--its kind of a thump... they have a different feel too. yeah, they're a lil more pricey but they last forever and sound really really cool. if you're into it, try adding a bit of drive to a bass with flats... sounds pretty awesome and will add ...

budget rig

If you didn't own any equipment and could only spend $500, what would you buy? What about with $1000?

sampler pedal

just started playing guitar in a guitar/drum two-piece. playing solos is kind of awkward since there is no one to keep the chords changing. i figured a sampler pedal would be a cool way to circumvent this problem and my shitty chops: i want to throw in some quick blasts of short sweet prerecorded no...

thanks for the info, good to know. the jaguar/jagmaster post was REALLY helpful.. hmm, well as far as both versions being CIJ--a jagmaster i was looking at earlier had mij printed on the back of the neck and the truss rod wasn't accessible through the headstock, but obviously it's the same story on ...

MIJ vs CIJ Jagmaster

I am in the market for a Vista series Jagmaster and have heard there are some differences between the CIJ and MIJ guitars. Anybody confirm/deny? what's the deal with this?

thanks for the insight. and yeh, that website is great.

haven't tried a cab, but was thinking about trying to find an empty cambridge enclosure to build a cab out of. you think this would make a bigger difference?

but yeah, i'm definitely keeping it. if nothing else it would be great for recording.

my bandmate uses a zoom h2 to record touring bands all the time. sounds decent for his those purposes. i can pass along some mp3 samples if you'd like. one of the singles for his one man project was recorded using just the zoom. so that label thought the fidelity was good enough to go to vinyl--i do...

thanks.

yeah, i bet a lot of players don't like the duo sonic neck (being that its a REALLY light maple or because of the C shape) and have a hard time finding an appropriate 24" conversion neck to replace it with. the mini strat is pretty cheap and easy to acquire fix.

just buy a fucking jaguar dude. you're going to end up with a shite chinese jag knock off and you'll never fully experience the jaguarness that makes the whole thing worth imitating. i hear this. the more i think about it the more it makes sense. still into hearing more input anyways--with haze's h...
