Here's the confusion: Some sites list capacitors as mF (m standing for micro) however the metric abbreviation for microfarads is μF nf is nanofarads, pf is picofarads. Generally everything above 1 uf is electrolytic, and everything below is interchangeable, though people will tell you certa...

I just set up an old strat of mine with a set of these 7-string strings http://cachepe.samedaymusic.com/media/quality,85/brand,sameday/9149-69d3869740db5381612dc1782b8c0438.jpg threw away the .010 and tuned the whole thing down to B standard (B E A D F# B). ungodly low end! Hmmm. . . a 59 gauge str...

It would be cool with an EH Freedom Amp for busking.

But you know, you could just use batteries in that case. Unless this thing can power the high current 9v pedals that don't take batteries.

Well to have a 4 ohm quad, that either means that you've got four 16 ohm speakers in parallel, or two pairs of series 4 ohm speakers in parallel.

Either case, the best you can do is rewire it for 16.

I love my Bassman 135, but I wouldn't recommend buying one. You don't need 135 watts. A Bassman 50 has plenty of wattage, and everytime you need to replace tubes it costs half the price.

I love mine, and the 0-5v out is a nice little hidden thing. It can be used as an expression pedal with a lot of pedals with that, and I can't think of any expression pedal smaller.

flats are a deader, more jazzy sounding string. My friend used them on his Jaguar when he had a surf band. Worked quite well. rounds are brighter. More for rock. GHS Nickel Rockers are groundwound, so they are round but with the sides a little flattened. So you get a little of each. This wikipedia a...

Honestly I prefer just to mount the pedals to the board with some little brackets made out of disassembled bike chain links and screws. It's a pain to change around your board, but it's damn rugged. That's pretty much what the fixings I buy from Johnny Shreadfreak are, but more expensive and less c...

Actually on a well intonated guitar, tuning to the 7th harmonic is OK. Equal temperament may not be perfectly close to the Pythagorean ratios, but it does a pretty damn good job on 5ths. You might not tune perfectly that way, but you're probably not going to tune perfectly any way by ear. Anyways, y...

Re: Dinosaur Jr Lead tones

(or Rams head if I win the lottery ?) Ask Mike to make you one. There's no mojo in old parts or flimsy boxes. I've meant to start advertising the Ram's head version on my website in a Purple Box actually, there's just some minor tweaks to the circuit - they all do sound subtley different though. I'...

Costs about 15-20 bucks to build with parts from smallbearelec.com

If you're good at cramping things, you can even fit it in a 1590a
