I’ve been thinking about making one of these for a while, since I noticed that Geoff Farina from Karate has one on his pedalboard.

Let us know how it turns out.

I use the neck pickup in my Dot because the selector switch has been pretty intermittent for about six months, but it stays in the neck position without any problems—I kinda’ EQ everything to make the middle pickup on a Strat sound a little thinner, so the neck pickup in my Dot still cuts throug...

I have a Vox Pathfinder 15. it is very much “for the win.

However, I think it sounds best when you turn it up to a level where, if you live in an apartment, your neighbours are going to complain. I tried using it with headphones, but it sounded awful, so I bought an iRig.

When I was young and stupid I used to put as many pedals as I had power and patch cables for on my board, but now I have a pedal turned on maybe 10% of the time.

I tend to arrange my board around what I might need: a distortion pedal, a Big Muff and a couple of delay pedals.

I bought the iRig adapter (the first I heard about AmpKit was when the guy in the store says to the other one “I hear Peavey are bringing one out but it’s a bit bigger…) but I use it with AmpKit. I think AmpKit’s UI is much cleaner, and there is less messing around with levels and patches...

I'd like to avoid leather/suede if possible. Why? I've found most other materials less comfortable. Also vinyl is more likely to damage the guitar's finish if your worried about that. Despite not wanting to buy animal products, I, and I’m probably on my own here, don’t like the way that leather...

I like Marr.

Apart from Modest Mouse, I’m not really a fan of the bands he has been in, but I like the way he thinks about the guitar. He comes across as purely about making music.

Normally a comfortable waist height (the next pickup being about where my belt buckle is) but recently I’ve been playing more technical, single-note, stuff and using my girlfriend’s old Yamaha strat, which I find myself playing much higher. It’s nice. You get to attack the strings for a differ...

I love my Transtube. I bought the one in the first picture (the “Sheffield one) when I was eighteen because I wanted something loud enough to play a small venue with but small enough to fit in my bandmate’s Morris Minor along with the rest of our gear. I just set it super-clean never worried ...

I’ve had my iRig for a month or so now and I’m quite impressed with it. The default amp sounds like those really cheap Marshall transistor amps that I’ve never been able to get a bright enough sound out of, but the Twin-esque add-on is pretty close to the sound I like. I don’t like the fact ...
