I don't think any of those skilled workers could have imagined in 1959 that their products would be worth what they going for in today's market!!! Reminded me of a tour I took, back in the eighties, of a General Motors Automobile assembly plant in Atlanta. After seeing the complete process, it was p...

Nice guitar!

But, it wasn't "free". :?

Sounds to me like you paid $300.00 for it.

Very nice guitar. Especially for that price. Congrats!

BTW, the original electric guitar conceived by Les Paul was a neck-through:

Well, perhaps I was in a silly mood yesterday. But I think most of it is pretty funny.

And, I think James Bond would approve of it......

Could it be touching the saddle height adjustment screw when you are playing? If so, a heavier gauge string might stay in place better.

Here is an excerpt from an article written by Ralph Novak. This article originally appeared in American Lutherie, #51/ Fall 1997. Scale Length When we build an instrument, we pay critical attention to the components that go into it. We manipulate materials and structure for aesthetics, longevity, st...

Sparky, I don't doubt your results. However, every strat I have tried this on (or measured) would require at least some of the saddles to be off the edge of the bridge and on to the guitar top in order to have perfect intonation. This is why I don't like it when people call it a conversion neck. It'...

A hard-tail strat bridge has enough intonation adjustment.

A tremolo strat bridge does not.

Its hard to say without seeing the guitar in person. But, I think chances are good that it is just humidity related changes. If the humidity level where the bass is now kept is different than where the bass was previously kept, the neck and fretboard will absorb or release the humidity and change. I...

The Larrivee P-03 parlor guitar is 24" scale.

These are very nice guitars.

The original question didn't specify a Hello Kitty guitar. So, my reply didn't take this into account. You are right. The GFS bridge is top mount and would not work for a string-thru. And the Hello Kitty bridge does look larger than a standard strat bridge. So, the 6-11/16" measurement would no...

It's a hardtail. But couldn't you just get different intonation screws? You might need longer intonation screws even on a hardtail. The tremolo bridge is too short. The saddles would end up on the guitar body. Check to see If the hello kitty strat has exactly 6-11/16" between the neck pocket a...

My experience has been that most strats (tremolo equipped) will not intonate properly with the squier CV duo sonic and jagmaster "conversion necks". This is because the intonation adjustment on the bridges is limited. However, a hard tail strat does have enough intonation adjustment room o...

Here is a link to a great article (best I have seen) on humidity and its effects on guitars. Humidity Article I suggest re-humidifying in a plastic bag. The kind you get at the dry cleaners works well. It seals up tighter than most guitar cases. Keep it sealed up in the bag with a sponge type humidi...

My experience has been that strats with tremolo bridges do not have enough range in the intonation adjustment to accommodate the 24" "conversion" necks (and have proper intonation). However, a tele (or a hard-tail strat) should work fine because they have about twice the amount of ran...

It is a great feeling to be able to restore broken instruments. Especially one as nice as that one.

I like all your ideas on how to proceed.

The screw size is limited by the size of the holes in the bar. I used a 1/16" bit to drill the holes in the hard maple headstock. It is holding so far. However, I do keep it tuned to standard D tuning (instead of standard E tuning). This puts less string tension on the bar.
