Are you making it PNP or NPN? If you go NPN it will play with other pedals more happily. Smallbear sells sets. I could make you a set of NPN's. Usually you want q1 around 70 and others around 90 in my experience. I'm not really sure about the difference, but as far I know, the original was PNP and ...

Okay, so how do I actually do this?
And is the HFE the only difference between germanium transistors, since you only mention that?

SFT337 and OC76 (or SFT363E) - where?

Hi I've been looking for the germanium resistors SFT337 and OC76 (or SFT363E), since I need them for a VOX Tone Bender clone. However they are pretty difficult to find anywhere. I've seen the OC76 on ebay, but not the SFT337 ? Can one find these anywhere or what would be a replacement that would fit...

Thanks for your reply.

Okay, why would you prefer either perfboard or veroboard/stripboard?

Breadboard is mostly for testing the circuit, right? So it wont be useful, since I already have PCB layout etc. ?

First pedal using Perfboard (VOX ToneBender)

Hi I'm thinking about building a VOX Tone Bender, using this PCB layout, diagram and part: Fuzzcentral - VOX Tone Bender However, I'm not really sure if I want to try creating the PCB myself, so I thought I would use either perfboard or similar. If i bought the following items: http://www.musikding....

Buying a Vox Tonebender?

Hi

I've been offered a Vox Tonebender (possibly) Mk1.5 from 1968-1969. It works, but the back plate and the two transistors are a little rusty. How much is this worth and is there something I should be careful about? I can send a link, but it's from my native country..

Thanks

Yes, I know that site, but in the "VU era" section it only says VOX Tone Bender fuzz in effects. Is that the only one (and then combined with the listed amps) that creates the sound? And then which VOX Tone Bender? (MK?)

The Wikipedia page is surprisingly good. Essentially: v1= Maestro fuzz, v1.5=fuzzface, v2=the one to get, v3 etc. tone control added, some argue m@j@ lost (it isn't, by the way, but start off with a v2, that's the archetypal one...). Okay, I think so too. Do you know if there's a reissue of this an...

The Velvet Underground, guitar effects?

Hi

Anybody who knows which guitar effects The Velvet Underground used? I know Lou Reed had a VOX Tone Bender, but which one of these did he use?

Thanks

Tone Bender pedals - differences?

Hi I've been looking at the Tone Bender pedals, but I can't really figure out what the differences between the different models are. (Vox/Sola Sound/Colorsound/JMI and MK1/MK1.5/MK2/MK3/MK4/MK5/Professional etc.) Anybody knows about this, and which one can be considered the original one? Thanks

The soldering station looks pretty good and it's not that expensive.
It costs £ 29.12 , but the shipping to Denmark costs £ 22.95 . :?

Is it available anywhere else (in Europe)?

It should be fine, but I always recommend the CSI one.
Which one is that?

Okay, I think I will get both the pump and the braid.

How about the soldering iron? Is it okay for this purpose and for a start?

List of stuff to order?

I've made a list of stuff (tools) I'm going to order. I figured out that I would order some the basic parts, since a lot of the things I have is either poor or not really intended for this purpose. Does it look okay? And should something be upgraded/downgraded? Soldering iron - http://www.banzaimusi...

Thanks for the answers and the PM. I think I will try building the feedback looper then. I do have the equipment, but I'm thinking about ordering a new soldering iron as well, since mine isn't that great. Do you know if the Banzai or Musikding soldering irons are fine? Many of them are pretty cheap ...

Vox Tone Bender - original vs. 1990's

Hi I have read about these pedals and I found a pretty cheap Vox Tone Bender reissue (Model V829) from the 1990's. How are those compared to the ones from the 60's ? Are they (the re-issues) worth about 120$ (with tax and shipping) if you live a place far from where thay sell any kind of Tone Bender...

I started building a simple feedback looper (experimentaists anonyous) which worked great. (No parts which night melt so you can do your solderings over and over again) After succeeding on that, i built one from musikding (a fuzzfactory clone) which also worked great. If i was you, i'd build a loop...

First pedal build - kit or ..?

Hi I am thinking about building a guitar pedal, but since I once ordered a PCB, the parts and the box seperately and never had it workng, I am considering ordering a kit. Are there any kits I can order online, that you would recommend for a (almost) beginner. I know the onces called BYOC, but they a...
