Like dots said, rough metal somewhere in the bridge or tailpiece/trem can lead to repeated string breakage. You can also try some nut sauce if all else fails. The high e string keeps... exploding for some reason. Usually after I use the trem quite a bit. Maybe I need to tighten/loosen it. Basically, the ring at the end just bursts off and separates from the rest of the string.

Is there a particular brand of string that's joined better at the end maybe?

Stacking fuzzes can be really good. I love the Pod HD500 for this. You could probably get a second hand M9 for not much more than some of the Boutique fuzzes, so if you don't mind Digital shit it's an idea.

Mid position is out of phase so sounds super plinky surfee even with distortion(actually with clean it sounds less so its most pronounced at low gain like a lot of artifacts). Will probably do the series mod.

That pickup will suit you for higher gain stuff but it is a stacked humbucker, so I presume it'd sound different to a stock JM pickup.
