There's also the Am. Special Mustang. I think it's been discontinued, but you can probably find a used one.

Update: I've cut a new pickguard and replaced the trem. I picked up a rusty '66 Mustang trem unit on ebay for $30, bathed it in vinegar and cleaned it up etc. This trem is much more stable than the CIJ one, and even the sustain is improved. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v665/RollingJ/65%20Musta...

I just recently started noticing the alignment on all my guitars, too. Specifically on one parts-Stang that I put together that didn't line up exactly straight. I've even noticed that the Fenders I have don't all line up exactly down the middle either. You're right, though. Now that I've noticed it,...

Curious if the hardware is Japanese. That would be my guess. I think all current Mustang parts are Japanese, aren't they? Also, this all original '68 Competition Burgundy Mustang is listed on ebay for $3,250 (incl. shipping) http://photos.imageevent.com/olivias/69mustangcompetitionblue10113/large/I...

Pretty much agree with everyone above - pickguards and covers look off, price tag is ridiculous. Maybe I've gotten too used to the the shortscale crowd, but how comes everywhere else the Jaguar seems to be considered a 'grown up' guitar in spite of it's short scale, while the Mustang still seems to...

Nah, not really unless you find there is excessive noise. Unlikely if compared to the single coil. You'll be grounding naturally when you install the pickup correctly. Easy !! Cool, thanks! Not necessary but it doesn't hurt. Make sure your bridge (the actual bridge, not the pickup) is still properl...

This may be a dumb question, but...
...if I'm installing a set of hot rails in a Mustang, do I need any sort of shielding or grounding in the cavities? I'm not exactly sure if this is just for the single coils or not. Any info would be great. Thanks!

The one that I had was a 5 position 4 pole (I think). How soon are you planning on doing this? I'm at school now, but I have the switch still at my parent's house, if you're willing to wait about a month, I'll probably have to decide within a week or so, although the fact that it's a 4-pole may mea...

I'm sure it's possible. I had something similar on a strat that is long since dismantled. However, I never took any pictures of it and never made a schematic. The positions would be something like this: 1. Both off 2. Neck only 3. Bridge only 4. B+N series 5. B+N parallel Do you know if I'd need a ...

Replacing Jaguar switches with one rotary switch?
I'm planning a custom build that will basically be a Mustang body with Jaguar pickups and trem. I'm also trying to simplify it as much as possible, without all the Jaguar switches, so I was wondering if it would be possible to use a rotary switch to get all the options that you'd have with the tradi...

I remember reading somewhere that he stopped using a Mustang because critics kept accusing him of trying to emulate Kurt Cobain or something. (Which still happens to people when they put a humbucker in a Mustang or play agressive rock on a Mustang.) He has teh kurdtz... I've never heard that story....
