finally finally getting a move on
I also really think there is a pattern. For instance, on a 25 1/2 inch scale guitar, tuning down a semitone very nearly takes you to the 24 inches of a Jaguar/Jagstang/Mustang. The tuning down changes the standard Strat twang (very suitable for late 50's USA true rock and roll, and shredding, I gues...

I have two guitars, on the budget end of things as guitars go, with similar floating two point trems. What I have found today is that both the guitars with their trems set to float are less responsive to tone changes when string tension is either raised up or down..there is a tone change but the flo...

My brain might be the same size as my gnats willey
My observation that the Peavey Predator Plus, (the one with tuners on both sides of headstock, and locking tuners and a 2 single coil and one humbucker coil and a two point floating trem....not the Floyd Rose one in other words), had a more bluesy tone than the same 25 1/2 length strat copy I have,....

Ta for the comments
"Rayleigh's wave equation"...that is like cool to drop this in to the conversation. Had a quick search in the forum but could not find any other posts. Looked online via Google, but the discussion is scientific technospeak and way over my head. Any chance of a brief summary? Will try to fo...

For the following discussion I am working on the basis that a 24 inch scale, at standard tuning, is the most stable arrangement the string/tension relationship can take. So below is my attempt at understanding what is going on. Imagine a string strung from the nut of a 24 inch guitar to it’s bridg...

you have lots of options:.. get a strat or tele and put one of those conversion warmoth necks on it . . . just sayin', your dreams aren't far from reality Yes thank you for that, am now looking at Warmouth conversion necks as a way forward. Thanks for reminding me to not go on and on...its a proble...

Oh err, my head was in a spin already, how its taking off like a helicopter. What is everyone saying? Yes I take the point about Les Paul guitars, but do Bigsbys give a good divebomb? Someone asked what 24 3/4 was, well it's the length of the string from nut to bridge, on some guitars. But perhaps y...

Thanks George,- and also Porterhaus for the backup quote. Providing you a video of the tuning method is a bit too advanced for me, will try to learn how to post vids. I was using the same strings, same scale length, just changing the tension in a controlled way...pretty simple stuff really, but you ...

string length and changes in tone
[the post below was my first post here, and now it is 9 months later and I am on a bit of a back-track/review of my posts. I got really into this subject of scale length and tone, and posted a lot after April 11 on this thread, trying to get to grips with it. I have not learnt how to keep good etti...
