the duo-sonic will definitely help with your shoulder. mine is the lightest guitar i own.

i'm not saying i know how they work based on knowing how a TOM works. i'm saying that it gave me a general idea and i've watched jag/jazz/mustang setup vids to get a better idea of how they work.
