810 Neo cab? So it's only 105 pounds instead of 140 pounds? Silly bassists.*** The Excelsior and Greta are both amazingly awesome looking, and because they look good, they will definitely sound good. *** I like bassists. I merely dislike bassists who think they need an 810 cab. A fair if sarcastic ...

The Excelsior looks pretty boss, ditto the Greta, I'm just having trouble believing that price.

Twins get a bit growl-y at around half way up, when played with humbuckers, but they don't ever out-and-out distort the way a Marshall does. It also depends on how old the power tubes are, I find that as my power tubes get older they start to overdrive easier. All in all, a Twin is LOUD. It does LO...

My price limit at a max is about £600. I can't justify spending any more than that at the moment. Not that I have the money but at least if i decide what I want I can begin to put the money a side. I've seen a few old Twins on ebay and the like for about £500,I just want to make sure it's definit...

I'd also be keeping my eyes open for a Musicman Sixty-Five or something of that nature. There's a lot of bargains to be had in the way of a non-fender vintage cleanish tube amp. I'm thinking of selling my Twin and Hilgen soon and exploring my options. I'd love something as light or close to my Hilg...

I'm after a tubed amp that can handle analog pedals I have no idea what you mean by this? I think he means he wants a tube amp that takes (non-digital) pedals well. In which case a Deluxe Reverb or a Twin would probably be best. Not every pedal works well with every amp, though. Lots of experimenta...

I ended up buying the Deluxe Reverb. It's quite good, if a bit trebly. I have a feeling that the somewhat ice-picky accents on my pick attack will fade as I get better at controlling them/the speaker cone breaks in. I'm not used to using something this loud, so my ears have to adjust to the volume ...

Pretty sexy except for the matching headstock. That's just personal taste on my part though. Otherwise, a very good build.

How do you even fret on the top neck of that one on the right? From above?

It's not THAT ugly...maybe the giant knobs. Nothing about it is particularly "viper"-esque, either.

Always good to find a steal, though, and if it does guitar-stuff the way you want it, who cares what it looks like?

My preference would be for the Twin as well, because intend on using pedals for my distortion sound and would like a lot of clean volume.

Alas, money and practicality have put the kibosh on the Twin. There's always next year...

Portability is an issue, yes, which is why I've knocked the Twin off the list. As for features, reverb is nice, hence why the Deluxe Reverb has been the top choice. 18 watts is about perfect. The main battle that remains is between the Silverface and the RI. Logistical issues will probably keep me f...

To be fair, it probably won't sound exactly the same, since nothing ever does. The reissues being PCB probably contributes, too. It doesn't bother me, though. I'm not rich/anal/proficient a player enough to go hunting for something absolutely 100% perfect. I'm about 90% swayed towards the re-issue D...

In the market for a new amp, but...

Some questions remain. I've narrowed it down to Fender, because I've liked the ones I've played in shops (for the most part) and like the sound of them on records and such and etc. I've further narrowed it down to either a Deluxe Reverb (sensible) or a Twin Reverb (madness). Now, is it worth buying ...

An astonishingly bad picture of my stock '62 AVRI Jazzmaster. I love it to death, even if my small hands make it really hard to play. It just sounds big , especially since I put flatwound 11's on it. Didn't make it any easier to play, of course. I imagine this will be me last non short-scale guitar,...
