Thanks for the input guys. Those Gotohs sure are sexy, they do seem to be the new "standard" for quality. However, Ive got to say that the American Strat (non-locking) Schallers are pretty badass so I cant wait to see these Gotohs.

Tuner Drama

I am working on another guitar (Gibson LPish thing) so my first instinct was to throw some Grover 102 18N 3x3s on this thing. After digging around it appears that there are tons of fakes on the internet (I thought it was so pure?) and then come to find out they are not even made in the USA anymore b...

im sure you could make a spacer invisible (ie, smaller than the bridge footprint, but not too much!). or maybe to hell with a spacer, and jack the saddles real high? dunno if theres enough travel in the toronado saddle screws for that, but they just strat saddles, so im sure there must be some extr...

quite possibly, but if they dont, you shudnt have too much trouble finding some that do, i believe that theyre just tele saddles, and theres no shortage of telecasters in the world. too many if anything. besides, theres another option - the fender toronado uses the same baseplate, but has 6saddles,...

no idea. they stopped workin a few years ago, so i put some kent armstrong pickups in it, a hotrails at bridge, n a coolrails at the neck. sounds awesome now. sounded good before to be fair. i think the stock pickups are standard mex strat pickups. but i did read somewhere that theyre fender texmex...

This is an interesting development. The stock pickups looked suspicious too; are yours ceramic or alnico?

CV Duosonic Saddle Measurements / Will they fit MIM duo?

My strings tend to slide around on the stock MIM duo saddles. Does anybody remember seeing a thread that discusses the new CV duo saddles fitting the stock MIM string spacing/etc? The CV saddles have slots in them correct?

Thanks.

well, when I use the DS wiring, I never get TWO pickups, just bridge or neck, even in middle position theres only the neck. ..same with a 2 HB, 1 vol, 1 tone, toggle- schematic, only less hum. I guess thats the reason why a melody maker has separate vol and tone for each pickup. so, maybe theres on...

If you end up selling the original pups, I'll gladly buy them. I've missed mine horribly ever since I sold them to stewart all those years ago. They are actually really swell pickups, but I was all about hum buckers at the time. I just put 65 Mustang RIs in my 93MIM so I have the ones that were in ...

It may just be the bad photo, although is turned slightly because I hit the damn thing all the time when it is straight up and down.

BTW I have a BS in Chemistry :)

modified pickguard? and plate bolt right in? or did you have to make new holes? these were cool when they came out. i think they were like 79-99 bucks new. wish i bought a few then.... I just cut the stock pickguard and made 2 new holes right where the plate meets the pickguard. Used the piece that...

Thanks man,
It is really a weak point in the guitar. I've seen a ton of these MIMs with cracked pickguards right around the jack.

1993 MIM Fender Duo Sonic - Completed

Here is my Duo Sonic I just finished. This thing JANGLES. I built the control plate out of aluminum stock from Lowes. I upgraded with American Strat/Tele tuners, MIJ Mustang RI pickups, a CTS no-load tone pot. Please excuse the crappy photos. The first image is a before shot (i think hanging on the ...
