Right I am definitely confusing them.

Kalamazoo is related to Gibson though, yeah? Were they like Gibson's budget brand before they bought Epiphone?

Kalamazoos

Anybody have a Kalamazoo guitar? Pretty much the company Gibson "left behind" when they moved from Kalamazoo. I see them on ebay, but have never had a chance to play one. Just wondering about their overall construction and playability.

I always though Malmsteens guitar was an aged olympic white. I hate to admit that I've even thought about that.

ouch. People have always looked at Fenders as mod platforms though. And by the 70s everyone knew the golden age was over. Damn I love Starcasters though. I can't believe they use that name for their worst guitars now.

Yeah I plan to post it online where it can stay for a while. It'll take a little while, but I'll be sure to make a new thread for it. I'm actually going to have my friend wire it up, so I can be the first person to do a blind test on it.

Not serious at all. The whole relic thing cracks me up to be honest. Yeah people are nuts. I'm just finishing this build/assembly for someone. Started around October, told her I'd like to get it done before thanksgiving because once the holidays hit I would get slowed down and not do much. She didn'...

De-Relicing Guitars

Anyone think there would be a market for refinishing reliced guitars to look factory new again?

Yeah I have. I have a .047 microfarad in my jazz bass project. I think the pots are 250k CTS that I had. This is kind of a rabbit hole, but I just ordered 6 different .047 caps that I'm going to install into a box with a 6 way switch, two level controls (one linear, one log) and a switch to select b...

Jeez I'd be annoyed too if I bought a brand new USA made guitar and saw that kind of wear in a months time. I tried to find a spec for the fret wire they use but to no avail.

Depends what you mean by clarity. Lacking in highs? If they're 1 meg, then changing to another brand of 1 meg wont do much. I've seen 2 meg pots. You may want to change all the wiring and caps too. Remember when wiring that finer wire gauge has a lower capacitance so that will in theory give you mor...

Eh, I don't think its boutique mumbo jumbo. I think a person who has been trained or trained themselves in some kind of craft they are passionate about, can generally produce things of higher quality than factory workers making minimum wage. I vote for the rewind with the original covers! (not that ...

How do those pickups sound? The Wide Range humbucker seems like one of those things that people say is never as good as the original. Though I guess that's most things.

Yeah I like Fender's strings too actually.

That's really weird though. Did you buy the guitar new and under warranty? If it were me I would give the folks at Fender a hard time just for the hell of it.

At least you know if you use an anodized pick guard, it wont matter what color the guitar is.

Are you using the same kind of strings on all your guitars? Stainless steel strings will chew frets up quicker than nickel ones.
