Excellent advice MatthewK- I soaked the bridge over night and did two rounds of fine steel wool- about 3/4 of the rust is gone. I have one major spot and a few small bits left. Im soaking it again, and will try some more. I'm not sure if you can see it in the photos but the body has flakes of paint ...

My Epiphone Et-270 Project

Hello All: I just picked up this beauty and I need a little advice. For the short term I just want to just get it up and playing. Its missing tuning knobs, pickups, etc. I was just thinking of grabbing an uncut pickguard material from guitar fetish and copying the original, and routing it for whatev...

Thank you for all of your feedback. I am switching to the 500k pots. I believe these are large single coils, not humbuckers .Good news, I believe I have pin pointed the issue. I didn't think about playing it not plugged in. It was totally muffled. The chap I had set up the guitar did a real lousy jo...

I am using 250 pots, with a .022 cap. I'm not digging the sound. I will put in 500 pots and see where it takes me. I also have a treble bleed on there as well.

I am using a super champ, sometimes clean, sometimes on the fender Tweed Bassman setting. I'm using a tele, and a strat to compare to. I am taking it apart again to take a picture to post to make sure I have the correct wiring. Is photobucket the only thing that works? I tried using my Flickr and it...

I didn't change anything from the original I believe. I just changed the pots/pickups and wired everything back the way it was.

Jagmaster Cap/Pot surf 90's.

I bought a set of GFS Surf 90 Alnico II To put in my Jagmaster. What pots do you recommend, and also what Cap should I use to get the best sound? right now I have 1 meg pots, and an orange drop .47/200w cap. and it sounds kind of muddy.

Tiesco shortscale bass

I just got this short scale Teisco from ebay. Im pretty excited, I see a lot of potential. Am thinking about turning it into a poorman's mustang bass. Or I could go with just a jazz bass route. I'm checking out http://dragonfireguitars.com/ to grab a few parts, new tuners, etc. Looking for a bridge,...

musicmaster guitar vs. bass size

I played a 75' musicmaster bass today, after seeing how small it actually was, and how fun it was, I started thinking... this body looks just like the guitar model. I'm wondering if anyone here knows the difference in size in the bodies between the bass and the 6 string guitar.

I'm starting to realize that- I guess I could always fill the cavity and rout it for a mustang trem.... or a tornado bridge. I'm really interested in making a great guitar w/ little investment- this is my second guitar project. I had a blast w/ the first one (a tele) now I'm going after a garage roc...
