like man, if you attended woodstock, and remembered most of it, you really weren't there. 8) *sigh* I thought I had you in my trap but you wriggled out of it.... from my perspective, woodstock was both amazing when the stage music was happening and bordering on horrible otherwise. but what do i kno...

in '66 i bought a brandy new vw beetle. in '69, just before trekking to woodstock, my buds and i installed a porsche engine and transmission, and beefed up the suspension. it look like a vw bug, it said it was a vw bug, but it surely wasn't. 8) Do you remember the show? like man, i...

I respectfully disagree, and you'll mever convince me otherwise. What do you mean, stubborn  "stubborn" as in not calling a duck that sings like an eagle, an eagle.  as stated b4, it's all good, who gives a real crap about all this technical stuff, it mostly panders to th...

you brits are as stubborn as whence you once owned the colonies. i'll regurgitate out these last comments, and then no more ... the electric guitar or bass platform is about playability, not sound/tone. it's the engines that make it what it is, and not the other way around. no one sees your in...

ah, yer one of those that must still believe the tone from an electric guitar is all about the wood and finish, eh? here's a clue - electric guitar tone is all about the electronics. the rest of the guitar just holds those electronics and strings and frets together. so, NO. what started out as a cr...

... now we need to obviously discuss why you sanded off the squier logo no discussion needed - it's no longer a squier bronco. 8) No. It is. Just with upgrades and a sanded headstock. ah, yer one of those that must still believe the tone from an electric guitar is all about the wood and finish, eh?...

some basic transducer design parameters ... for any given pickup bobbin, build and materials, less coil wire turns (as opposed to far more coil wire turns of the same gauge coil wire) means increased treble, lowered midrange and lowered volume output. if the coil wire turns are dramatically increase...

I think the biggest reason why Musicmaster Basses sound like shit is the fact that there's a cap that's always in the signal path, so it pretty much goes from mud to more mud. no - the biggest reason they sound like crap is the strat GUITAR pickup installed in all stock 70's MMB's and 80's-to-prese...

resurrected thread ... modding a bronco is relatively easy and the results are truly stellar - it's transformed into a real bass guitar. the mods include - my own cavalier '51 p-bass pickup (sitting in the original but modified bronco pickguard), cts 250ka pots, switchcraft jack, p-bass bridge, wilk...

dummy coil for a '51 p-bass pickup

as posted elsewhere, i bought a squier bronco bass on sale at mf for $135/delivered and upon arrival i immediately ripped out the cheesy electronics and crap strat pickup. installed cts pots and a switchcraft jack, then wound a '51 p-bass pickup and modded the pickguard to accept it. the kinda junky...

winding a '51 p-bass pup

it's all good - if it's not responsible fun, i try to avoid "it". i do a fair amount of work with dummy coils for strats and teles, and since i like loud in-yer-face r'n'r, i can see a clear advantage with working one up for this hybrid bronco/'51 bass. i'll rout under the pickguard ...

Excellent. Have you been winding pickups long? What is your setup? my dad got me into pickup winding back in the late 50's to late 60's. fast forward a 4 decades or so and i couldn't find pickups with specifications i required for the guitars and basses i build, so i got back into winding about 6 y...
