I can't answer on whether they have different pickups, but I can tell you that the white one sounds really good. Bought mine dirt cheap from some guy who claimed it was "broken beyond repair", turns out the cable to the output jack had disconnected. Something to consider though is that alt...

The "stone" logo on the headstock means its probably late 70s. I haven't played any myself but as far as I understand if you want a Fernandes the stone logo ones are the ones to get.

The Jaguar trem says Fender, but the neck-plate says Squire and the back of the headstock looks like a signature model. http://inthejunkyardmusic.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Cribs_20.jpg-1-of-1.jpg http://inthejunkyardmusic.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Cribs_18.jpg-1-of-1.jpg http://intheju...

Pawn shop mustang body and Venus neck maybe? He has played both as live guitars, maybe he just combined the parts he liked best? Although the headstock looks different than a Venus. (this is of course under the assumption that it is a home made and not an unreleased actual Squire model)

Filing the neck or the pocket

I have three Japanese mustang copies, but only one that is playable. The one that works is a red with yellowed comp stripes that for some reason isn't doing it at all for me. It plays just fine, but I just never feel like picking it up. One of the others is a white one that looks gorgeous. However t...

Thanks for the info, I'll make sure to test the KC mustang next time I visit a music store, and a Jag-stang the next time I get a chance (which might not be that far away, Ive seen three of them in the last tree months).

Pawn shop mustang necks

I recently got a mustang in need of a new neck (the previous owner tried some diy scalloping  ). My favorite neck ever is on my Pawn shop mustang so I thought I'd try to get my hands on one of those or one with similar specs. However after looking around I find 3 different versions of the Pawn ...

http://store.ishibashi.co.jp/ec/pro/disp/1/img/23/sub_18-3152397081_l.jpg The black on black on black just doesn't do it for me. I saw this model in a store just a couple of days ago and it looks even less inviting when hanging next to two white/tort mustangs. Funny detail though is that it still h...

Got the guitar today. The neck seems to be in an passable shape, any small pieces torn out in the fret-removal seems to be in areas that will be covered once the new frets are on. The fretboard is a bit worn by the first and third fret (previous owner seems to have loved his D and F), but not someth...

Refretting a Japanese mustang copy

I bought a Japanese red/white-comp mustang, a Thunder Super Sounds, about four months ago. I paid 8000 yen for it (80$) and it plays way better than my friend's Japanese Fender mustang. A few days ago I found another Thunder Super Sounds mustang and since I love the first one I got this one as well....

As far as copies goes it is way better than the current crap they sell here, but as for vintage copies I think Fernandes made some real pretty ones (or maybe thats just me being partial to maple necks for looks). However I only paid a fifth of what a Fernandes would cost so I can't really complain :)

70s Jap-Comp-Copy-Mustang

I won this on Yahoo Auctions before New Years and it finally arrived. I'm not sure if it shows in the picture but when looking at it IRL some of the scales look slightly off. I can't put my finger on what it is. Are the pickups too big? Is the bottom slightly too fat? Either way, its a neat little g...

Yahoo auction "mustang"

I was looking around Yahoo actions (Japanese ebay) and came across a strange looking Mustang. The color looks a weird shade of blue and the "Mustang"-logo looks odd. Any ideas on this guitar? Is it customized or just some sort of Japanese copy?

It's like a cyclone rainbow over here. I've only seen them once out in the stores though.

Modding a Squier Duo-Sonic

A few years ago I was looking to buy a Squier Duo-Sonic, but for various reasons (the awful color scheme, my dislike for the pickguard and the fact that I bought a Pawn shop series mustang) I never did. Now however I live in Japan and things are a bit different. First of all here the Duo-Sonic comes...

I appreciate everyone's suggestions. I tried to make a little groove in the screw for the screwdriver to catch onto, but I think i just made it uneven and less likely to come out. The plan now is to get my hands on the cheapest power drill Japan has to offer and to use a metal-use drill-bit and just...

Suggestions for digging out a snapped screw?

I recently got my hands on a Japanese vintage Les Paul. Unfortunately the screws were equally vintage and rusted to hell so they kept breaking when I tried to take them out. I managed to get them all out EXCEPT the one holding the pickguard to the side of the guitar. The head and a few millimeters b...
