Dunno if it's a fair price or not.

The earliest Jazz (woulda been a stack knob too) and Mustang basses had felt mutes, this odd one-for-each-string deal. For the Jazz, they were little strips of metal folded into a springy vee shape with a strip of felt on top & were mounted under the strings with screws going directly into the b...

The main difference from a playability point of view is the nut width. The J is much narrower than the P to the point where if you're used to one, changing feels quite awkward at first. I personally prefer the J width, and I think it was designed to make it easier to switch between guitar and bass....

I would think that would be a really bright bass. is this tr00? i dunno about billy3000's but mine isn't bright at all. it sounds nice unplugged, but really muffled amplified (to my ears anyway). i'd have thought the fact that the pole pieces in no way line up with the strings would account for it....

They're the exact same scale. And while P's & J's are different widths at the nut, you should be fine with any J neck fitting in a Precision neckpocket. It's actually somewhat common for people to swap necks between the two for whatever reason, like a guy I knew wanted the tonal options of a Jaz...

What colours did the original Musicmaster basses come in? I've seen early 70's ones come up on ebay in different custom colours... I always thought Fender didn't put anything out in the custom colours back then (except for oly white), but these basses make me wonder. Is this one seafoam, or a faded...

Round Rotos'll tear hell outta frets. I don't know about that. I've been playing Rotosounds for ages, and the frets are still fine. The Rotos have worn my fingers a whole knuckle shorter than they used to be though. :P Yeah, really, it's one of those things I've heard a bajillion times from others ...

I hear so many people hate on the halfrounds that I don't understand why they still make 'em (never tried 'em personally)...

Fenner put that on probably all bass models thru-out the sixties. Got a 66 P-neck wif it. I've seen it referred to as the 'hootenany button.' Apologiez if I'm stating stuff already known here.

Do want, too!!

What's weird is that Home Depot has zero guitar-related screws. I found some that looked like pickups screws but were aluminum. Nothing works for some reason. Or they strip. HW store makes sense, but I never go there for this stuff anymore. It's true. I need some 3/8" tuner mounting screws. HD...

Hmmm, are the covers removable on Lace Sensors.

See, I'm trying to find a decent replacement pickup for a Musicmaster bass and use the original cover. Maintain stock look - yes. Some jackhole logo - do not want.
