300K volume pots

Ok, as long as I've got the Super-Sonic apart while I send back the pickups for a rewind I'm entertaining the idea of upgrading the pots while I'm at it. There are no tone pots on the Super-Sonic and the one thing I found about the working neck pickup was that it was exceedingly bright. Very Telecas...

What neck does he want on it? Doesn't a Super Sonic already have a Fender neck? The neck on a Super-Sonic sits just a little differently than your average Fender neck. It's a little shallower. Plus it has that peculiar smaller neck plate. I think that's what all the hoo hah here is about. If he's g...

http://www.castlepickups.com/ I just snagged a second set of humbuckers for the Super-Sonic from this guy. Scott's been really cool to work with. I won a couple of super cheap eBay auctions and he's taken the time to kind of work with me in terms of winding a pickup specifically for the guitar and ...

http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/2036/fuzz04ra7.jpg Here's my Fuzz collection. (back row l-r) Rosac Nu-fuzz - very insane fuzz. tone goes from deep growl to mosquito in your ear. great for solos, turns chords into sonic washes of white noise. Maestro Fuzz-Tone - the original (and an original). I'...

I use the same as it seems everyone. Have 'em in to practice. have 'em in to play. Have them to watch other bands. Sometimes I've been known to slip them in at a movie theater during some kind of Hollywood Blockbuster. (but that's really rare. We don't go to movies much) Doesn't matter. I've already...

The Crowther dude also makes my favorite Overdrive pedal, the Hotcake.
Just kickass and worth every penny.

One problem I've had in the past with some vintage amps has been the cloth covering over the front becoming slack and flapping from the air being pushed by the speakers. It sounds kind of like that rattle. (and is exacerbated by certain frequencies too. The Supro Vibra-Verb rattles on A)

On the humbuckers I just took out of the Jagmaster white was the one that went to the switch.

You've got a 50/50 chance.
at worst you'll end up redoing a few solder points.

Cool. I'd love to hear samples. I'm still a little skeptical of the cryo thing. There's just so much fad hifi bullshit that perennially goes around that I need to hear for myself before I can believe the hype. (Vibration damping rings for Cd's anybody?) Perhaps a blind taste test is called for so pe...

I read. I still remain dubious. (and I can hear the difference in sound when you coat the edges of a Cd with a green marker) It makes some sense, but they sort of lose me with there being no quantitative measurable performance difference. At that point my skepticism starts kicking in. I'm kind of di...

I'm currently sold on JJ's. No regrets with either recent retubes for the Supro or the Traynor. (The guy at Eurotubes is also great to deal with.) But I also likes me midrange a lot... Harma is a new one for me. Never heard of them until I poked a nose into the Watford Valves thread. What are those ...

no fuck that noise. Matched is a term for Power Tubes (the big 6L6s that are in there) and even then there's debate as to whether it matters - stop here if you're not interested: It's to do with the construction of the tube, in push pull amplifiers people say you want them to be matched so that the...

I thought all electrics were unpopular in the early 60s due to the folk boom? Not so, Grasshopper. It was during that same time period that the big Surf/instrumental boom also occurred and Motown got off the ground. The folk boom also breathed a bit of new life into the electrified Chicago blues sc...

I've actually seen a saw used quite hauntingly and effectively by whichever guy it was in both Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control.

It's one of those sounds like the glass harmonica that I just find sublime.

String snobbery . Seriously, I've played £10 sets of strings and £3 sets. I've noticed no decent variation in tone, sound or life. Seems to me to just be another thing for guitarist to fuss about. PLAY THE FUCKIN GUITAR, MAN! I just like Roto-Sound strings. Ok? It's not snobbery, but they do have...

Peavey. yeah, yeah blah blah. I had a bad experience with my first amp. Never again. The logo is a heinous affront to good design as well and whoever is in charge of their aesthetics needs to be beaten. And for me. (hear that sound...it's a can of worms opening up.) Boss.
