Thanks all...

Nice forum indeed. Altanon also started the JVM410.com forum which is awesome - they even have the DESIGNER of the JVM posting on there to answer questions - which is amazing. I really like the Vintage Modern, heard some great clips, haven't played one yet as when I went to try out the JVM in londo...

Dedicated Marshall Vintage Modern Forum...

I apologise if this is tacky, but I thought there might be some interest here that I started a board for the Marshall Vintage Modern.

I have to admit that, given some of the people who are starting to use the VM, I'm going to have to take a closer look, myself!

Thanks.

Altanon I'll happily swap citizenships with you. Somethings are sometimes worth it. Thanks, my friend but, trust me, you don't want to be here. At least you don't live in the largest Police-State in history. It sucks now, and I'm afraid it'll get a lot worse before it gets better. At least I'm an o...

Help! I want out!

At least you're philosophical about it. Kudos - most people would be smashing stuff up now... Well, anger in this situation is unproductive. Any hope I have, (however slim,) rides on maintaining civility and counting on his guilt to shame him into paying me. As to smashing stuff up, well, I used to...

I feel for you, that's awful that you've been left to take the brunt of his financial inadequacies. Is there no way you can take any action to recoup this money? I guess not - Bad Karma. Hopefully he won't get far before getting his comeuppence. Thanks Mike. It's my own fault. Another guy I'd known...

...Anyway...I noticed your avatar on the Marshall Forum, and didn't know if it were you or if that pic was a pic of someone famous IRL. I Wasn't trying to toss a rock at the bee hive. No problem. LOL, I wish the person in the pic was of someone famous! 'Fraid it's just me. Who knows, though? See? h...

Thanks. That, at least, is good news. My flatmate, (roommate, for the US reader,) just skipped-out owing the landlord over $2,000.00 and owing me almost $1,500.00 in back utilities.

Looks like the Mackie -- or anything else, for that matter -- is on hold indefinitely. F*ck!

Aren't you one of the mods on the Marshall Forum??? Altanon is a good guy. He was cool to me throughout the whole drama and I'm sure that place is going to be a great forum now that he's on board moderating along with some other guys. Thanks Mike. Yeah, I guess I should have known it would be a pro...

Thanks fretman, I think I will feel more comfortable with working with the dedicated control surface of the 1640, as opposed to working "in the box." For example, I've been struggling with Cubase trying to figure out which one of the damned buttons sets the input level for the active track...

Thanks again...

Thanks Bob. ...Initially when reading the spec just then, I was a little concerned at the idea of having global pre/post settings on the auxes. Thinking about it though, most of the time you'll be fine with that. You're most likely aware of the times when you'd want to use either (at least tradition...

Thanks for the reply, Mike. No, I wouldn't be recording a band, exactly. Or, rather, the band is ME! However, I do want to be able to mic a drum kit, and I always use at least three mics for the guitar. The 1640 is overkill, in a way, but I prefer to buy gear that I can "grow into," rather...

RME Fireface 800 or Mackie Onyx 1640 w/Firewire???

Sorry if this has been beat to death, but I've lurked and read. I've searched The Gear Page, Gearslutz, and a dozen other places. I've asked my friends, (problem is, their studios are so much bigger than what I'm looking to do.) I've identified what I hope to accomplish, and I think I've narrowed it...
