Mike's right, his reputation for quality work helped to sell that guitar. I wouldn't pay that much for a parts guitar on Ebay, either. I would for Doug's, though. Market price for a parts guitar like that would probably be around $500-$600 on Ebay. I'm certain it's a much better guitar than any CIJ,...

The new seller of the witch hats is Jay. If you have an account at offsetguitars, just PM him.

Stereordinary sells the white Jag knobs he made himself.

Both of those guys are ace, too.

leave that thinskin in a sunny window for a while, then we'll talk. I can't fucking wait 'till it yellows. It really does look good now, but it's too white.... Outdoor: http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e302/nolan83/Blonde%20new%20and%20pron/DSC_0006.jpg Compared to my "Vintage White" CIJ...

Thanks for the advice, guys. I've had both my LPB-1 and Plane Ticket cranked at the same time through it. Sounded pretty shit, but it sounds good with only one at a time... I posted a demo of the new Champ on youtube....Pardon the stupid pentatonic shit. I can never think of what to play on a demo. ...

Can a cranked boost pedal (or 2) easily damage your amp?

I've been playing with my new Vibro Champ, and if I leave the volume low and turn on my LPB-1 and/or Plane Ticket cranked, I get really nice overdrive at low volume. I read somewhere that too much boost can damage the preamp section of an amplifier...How much is too much? Is this even really an issue?

My Dad always told me "SHUT THE FUCK UP, I'M WATCHING WALKER TEXAS RANGER!" when I played my guitar as a kid. Just kidding. He did tell me to keep it down a time or two, but my Dad was pretty supportive. If he hadn't bought a $20 garage sale acoustic before I was born, I may have nev...

I know it's so cliche, but Nirvana and The Flaming Lips were my original offset inspiration. I always liked the Jag better than the Mustang. I didn't like Jazzmasters as much at the time because I thought the pickups were ugly. I remember going to the local music store when I was in junior hi...

The tort does suck indeed, but that's the cheapest BIN I've seen on a Japan VI in a long time. A year ago, they were fetching $1500 regularly. Looks like hard times are driving the prices back down...Still, it's about $400 too high for any CIJ, IMO.

Looks amazing, Doug. +1 on the relic thing. Usually hate 'em, but yours have been most tasteful. I love the Strat you did, too.

Sell the Strat, buy what you really want/will play. If you're happy with what you have otherwise, sell the Strat, save the $$$ for a rainy day.

I absolutely adore the neck finishes and overall quality of this series! Now that I've bought the Strat, I want them all. I've said it before, but these guitars rival the quality of any of my CIJ guitars.

It seemed much more open....almost like someone had a blanket over my amp before the swap. That sounds cheesy I know, but it really made a difference.

Admittedly, I may be blaming the pickups for my fingers' shortcomings. They are 70's, CBS-era fingers. haha I think a lot of smack is talked about them unjustly. When I've listened to recordings using the originals (Radiohead and Franz Ferdinand for clean and dirty sounds) I've managed to ape them ...
