Hmm, sonicboom, did you know that corporations exist to create revenue for their owners? Gosh, really? Do you mean that FMIC exist to make money for their owners/shareholders, and the Lavignes and Costellos and Mascises of this world present a fairly important bit of leverage in helping them achiev...

If an Avril Lavigne guitar costs 3x as much as it should, I want my $93 single humbucker Telecaster, thanks. And my $126 non-Mascis Squier Jazzmaster to go with that, thanks. Seriously, Mascis has done us all a huge fucking favor by pressuring Fender to release an affordable Jazzmaster that's somew...

As has been said before (at least by some folks) on this forum, any guitarist who puts their name to a sig is quite simply a major dick. I personally don't give a flying fuck whether it's Elvis Costello or Avril Lavigne, but they're rolling over like the greedy fucks I hoped they weren't: dear guita...

Well, it just looks like a Jazz, but here's a couple o' shots anyway. Still blown away by this guitar, folks. Recorded with it over the past couple of days - superb tones and playability: could be the best £90 I've spent lately. Or ever. http://i481.photobucket.com/albums/rr179/sonicweegie/DSC03355...

Didn't know that. I'd like to know what Fred was using with Sonic's Rendezvous Band too - the guitar sounds on Sweet Nuthin' are immense.

Lot of luv and respeck for the '5 here, clearly. Good show.

Higher output stuff is'nt Fred Sonic Smith but i suppose you could tame things down with your amps gain.
Fred was all about Rickenbackers and Crestwoods. It was always more about clang than super-gainy pups.

New Bass Day: picked up a Vintage EJM96 off Gumtree yesterday in as new condition. This is a very good Jazz copy - tort on sunburst i.e. classic look - build quality and finish excellent, plays just lovely (very nice neck) and it's got those proper Jazz tones all over. Knocked out. Anyone else playe...

http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/7341/photoqx.jpg I would now do anything for an Orange head going into an orange Marshall cab. Including yardwork. Is that like a... dais you've got your really nice amps on? I want to remodel our living room like that. I'd have to buy more amps though. Damn.

I like to have different guitars with different necks, as well as pickups, body type, shape and size, whammy or not etc. I kind of like each guitar to have its own character, independent from my preferences, if that makes any sense. I even like having different guitars set up in different ways. I've...

Yeah, I'm just trying to understand the difference before I go and try some. I'm leaning towards a Jazz, but don't want to rule the Jaggy bass out at this point, given the potential bang per buck so it's back to my original question, really - has anybody good or otherwise opinions on the Jaguar bass?

I hear you. The Jazz would be it, for me.
What's the difference? Tone(s), play, build etc?

bass recommendations?

I'm looking for a bass to replace my (not very good) Squier P-Bass for home recording. Having just invested in the awesome CV Custom Tele (see other thread) I'm definitely considering another Squier - looking at the VM Jaguar Bass Special, which looks like it should cover Precision AND Jazz tone ter...

Ah see, that's the thing. Go take a look and you'll be drawn in by the double-bound-sunburst mint-guarded glossy-necked scrumptuosity of the thing.
Then you'll play it, muttering "fuuu..." under your breath.
You know how that ends, already.

That was Merchant City @ 299. According to the site, they've gone back to preorder, which may mean no stock or low stock. Dunno about the other Glesky shops.

Yeah, I mean to check out that neck routing at some point. No plans to do anything like that to it - I wouldn't change a thing right now - but it's good to have the readymade option.
Go try one, Thomas. You know you want to...
