I believe that I once heard a story of someone here buying a set of short-scale bass strings with the fabric wraps on the end and them not being long enough, so beware. I personally use the D'addario's with a 105 on the E. I think that the extra girth makes up well for the tension that you lose on w...

Nay. I own one, and it's not very good. And I can't sell it, because it was a gift from my parents (who have specifically asked me never to sell it). Oh well, it looks nice, so it'll make a nice wall decoration when I get a home of my own.

yeah, i know. see, the thing is that you have that opinion, but no matter how many times you state your view, it won't be enough to force others to share it.

I'll keep you in mind if that time comes, hotrod. I'd really recommend it if you see one about. It's a gem. Pickup is great, too.

I set at

Treb 10
Mid 10
Bass 10

But then again, playing through a Bassman 10, the EQ is set up for bass and should be labeled "Low, Lower, Lowest"

Yup, Bassman 10 for sure. Who's place is this? That's a sweet Musicmaster! I've been after one just like it.

I have the Fender Malibu SCE, which has a 24" neck. You can find the link for it here. It's a really well made guitar, but takes some work to get the short scale neck to work with acoustic strings, which are generally of higher gauge. The neck is real small, somewhere between a '65 and a '69 RI...

Thanks, Mike. I'll give it some thought. I'll probably get something else from you as well, while I'm at it. Have you had luck with a delay? Also, and this is a separate issue, I got the old tremolo/vibrato (i believe it was a prototype) from a poster 'round here a while back, and it has never reall...

Hey, Mike. What would the cost and turnaround time be on a Saltbooster and a Box of Mike built into the same box? I've got both in separate enclosures at the moment, and I have a friend who likes the combination just as much as I do.

For that kind of money, you're basically going to get what you pay for. They'll sound decent, but they certainly won't be reference-worthy. If you're looking to just listen to music, the M-Audio ones are fairly reputable. If you want them for mixing, I'd recommend holding out for a better pair, or g...

Re: Pawn shop stop

$799 Gibson SG Jr Special thing - mini toggley, open humbucker, stop tail, autographed by B.B. King (with C.O.A.) (note the bc rich and epiphone worn brown dot ) That'd be an SG-1. Nice little guitar, actually the first I ever owned, though I got mine for a bit less. They're kind of interestin...

It looks like those're there to block the trem. If you tightened the two fulcrum screws down, the trem probably wouldn't move.

I like the way my Rhodes sounds through my 50 Watt Bassman. It gets plenty of headroom. When the folks at the Fender factory were building the pianos, they tested them through Twin Reverbs.

I read somewhere that US Presidents use SM57s. I do audio for press conferences on a weekly basis, and I use an SM57 every time. It's a good sounding mic for picking up speaking vocals, and if you throw the matching windscreen on there, it looks sharp. Granted, I don't do press conferences for any ...

I bought a Hondo II "Professional Bass" for $75 a while ago. It's in great shape, and plays real well. I like it. The neck is glossy, the pup sounds good, everything about it is real solid. It could be easily passed off as a P-bass for 5 times the cost if the headstock was Fender.

It doesn't look like any packing material was used inside the case to immobilize the guitar. Thus the guitar shifted around and broke through the case. The case is too long for the guitar which doesn't help either. A guitar needs to be packed to mimic a "form-fit case" with packing materi...
