I used the exact same body without binding for my aluminium Telecaster project a years ago. The surf green colour is true to the photo. Hard to tell now because it's covered in metal, but the quality seemed fine, and is incredibly lightweight. I think I got it for $29.

Just my theory as to why people are so afraid of gold hardware. And not to assume you don't want it to be over-the-top, because there's a way to do that as well, but something tells me that you (or no one else here) doesn't want purple tribal-flamed-maple Warmoth custom over-the-top.

My two cents, if I may... I hope none of this sounds obnoxious, but I've put a lot of thought into how to use gold hardware and considered it for past projects, so far I've only used polished brass which looks a lot like genuine gold. 99% of the time people get it wrong and I think this is why: Gold...

Mike, I've flat out said that you are one of my favorite builder/modifiers. Your work is spot on as always. As an aside, when I was showing my wife the pics you had of FB she asked who you were. I said a guy from the forum, and clicked randomly on one of your pics, to which she commented that you l...

The body shape was lifted from a Saturn 63. Love the shape myself. I think I would like to see a touch less metal on top though. I like that there is a lot of it, but perhaps some curves and more a pickgaurd appearance would be take the edge off it looking quite so industrial? I see what you mean, ...

Thanks everyone! I didn't take any photos under the pickguard before I put it together, sorry. Honestly, it's not pretty so I doubt anyone will ever see it. It weighs 9.5 pounds. I'm sure a lot of people will laugh at this, but pickups are stock Bullet bridge and middle single coils, joined together...

Thanks! I made them from scratch. They aren't perfect, but they get the job done.

And I didn't know of such a debate, but that doesn't surprise me. A quick search shows both are commonly used. I guess it depends on how you look at it. Something is going in the jack, but something is also coming out.

And before someone says it, I realise there is a tuner screw that is not completely tightened... It's so much easier to notice those things AFTER you take photos! It's fixed now.

Aluminium Jaguar-Style Guitar

Hello all, I haven't posted here in a quite a while, but I just completed a guitar project and thought I would share it with you. Hope no one minds a random run-in from me after such long inactivity on here. This is my first guitar project in nearly three years -- my aluminium Telecaster has been br...

This new product by Target Coatings might interest some of you who have spray equipment. I use their SuperClear 9000 and it is very, very nice stuff. I definitely want to try this lacquer, though. Also, their customer service is excellent if anyone has questions.

Paint curing in general is very tricky to gauge. There is no universal answer for this. It is totally dependant on how the paint was applied (thin or thick coats?), the temperature; and most importantly, the humidity level where it is drying. This goes for any type of paint or adhesive. I've given u...

It does make the fretboard much richer in colour and is a lot prettier, in my opinion. It's worth a shot to see how you like it. It smells kind of nice as well.
