Gypsy Rose stratocaster 7/8

Post by wiesiek »

Hi Guys,

I found this forum when I was looking for some advices in my searching
for pretty good guitar with shortscale.
I am sympathizer of 3 single coil's sound, but normal scale of strat is too uncomfortable for me.
Of course I can play in this length, but I feel that it is not my natural size.

Last month I started looking for a guitar
and I buyed one model for tests. It is Gypy Rose strat,
exactly this one:
http://www.rondomusic.com/product1882.html

If you have any suggestions what kind of guitar should I buy
to get strat-like sound, please tell me.
I am also thinking about ordering hand made model.

Greetings.

oh yeah. doh!
Maybe try an old Peavey T 15
they have their own unique pickups, but are shortscale and strat-like in some ways

I think I'm probably gonna choose
fully hand made model
or Warmoth conversion. However strat is it ! :)

I am not sure about effect of this experiment.
You mean just putting? without any bridge moving?

It's a conversion neck, 24" length but the frets are spaced for 25.5" scale. No need to move the bridge.

I was thinking that you are talking about simply replacement.

he was, a Jagmaster neck essentially takes a guitar that is 25.5" and turns it into a 24" scale guitar. So, the jagmaster and strat necks are interchangeable. That said, I don't think it would totally work because the strat saddles may not have enough movement to make it intonate properly; it would be close though.

I have no idea what you are saying...

A Jagmaster 24" conversion neck IS a simple replacement on a full scale start body. It will make any 25.5" scale guitar you can bolt it on a 24" without any other adjustment.

that's really not totally true from my experience. I have ALWAYS needed to adjust the saddles backwards. and on strats, they don't always have enough play in the saddles to really get it to work properly.

About that Gypsy Rose -- how does it play/sound in you opinion?

I saw one about a month ago and just laughed it off. One of the fugliest Strats I've seen.

Uh, maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but what about a Mustang with Strat pickups, or do they not fit?

I'd bet it would be pretty easy to find one on ebay with a swimming pool route and go from there.

and on my linked video there is a Gypsy Rose strat 7/8 for sure :)

But neck exchange is probably a good idea for me,
however it can be also expensive experiment
when I will discover that it does not fit :)

I'm actually kind of impressed it has a 3-ply white/pink/white pickguard. If the rose was an engraving down to the pink ply that'd be really cool. Even all that Disney scratch didn't buy the Hannah Montana guitar that level of swank, and to add insult to injury they got my boy Dale conforming to their gay agenda by prancing about in girl's clothing all over the box for some reason.
