Not gonna break the bank, but the guy doesn't know much about it. Doesn't look like a Hondo II.

What do you guys think?

Worth a punt at $75.

My Hondo Lead II copy is one of the nicest guitars I've ever had.

For $75 I'd say yes. A vintage LP copy for under $100.

I've heard varying things about Hondo... I think Hondo II are the ones to go for, which are Japanese made in the same factory as Tokai as I'm led to believe.

I just bought a Hondo Lead II from classifieds. Good to hear that Ends.

You'll be plenty pleased if it's in good shape. As good as any Fender.

If this was a Hondo II I would already have it. Those are choice. I bought an All Star with a Tele neck from Cooterfinger and it sounds great. Love the pickup in it. Would love a Les Paul copy or even another nice fender copy.

Most of the Hondo Les Pauls I've seen were made out of like 9 pieces of wood sandwiched together.

That said the Hondo Les Pauls I've played were all fucking solid. I'd have gone for it I think, but that might just be because I'm missing my Les Paul a bit

Shit I have to unpack and finish the Les Miek.

Also, speaking of Hondo II's, I had an SG copy, it was my first electric. I wish I still had that. I can never find and SG's on the web for sale now....

Just wanted to debunk that piece of misinformation. Tokai made Hondo IIs for a very short period. The majority were made in Korea, probably by Samick.

That said, many Hondo IIs are good quality, though as stated above the bodies were usually of butcher's-block construction. Many Hono IIs had DiMarzios; the one pictured doesn't, by the looks of things.

My experience of playing a Hondo II Les Paul would be don't bother, save your money for something better. Maybe people have a different experience but to me I expect this would be one of those classic teeny purchases of shitty cheap gear that slowly amasses and clutters the place up with junk.

Hondo II PRO like that one are made in Japan, and not Tokai but Matsumoku afaik (still fucking awesome - I owned that one). Regular Hondo II are Korean and shit.

If I have any pictures they would be with my mom. I had it when I was a kid, and sold it about 30 years ago.
