i think sourcing from the US might be your only solution with a lot of stuff. I've been trying to similarly source from the UK only but find some stuff is just more readily available in the states and a lot on here will vouch for good delivery, avoidance of comedy tax, etc

A nice piece of Ash will cost you about £50 on its own...I've paid £70 before...so I recon you'd be looking nearer £70 upwards to churn one out..spirograph wrote:there must be some loner in a shed somewhere capable of churning out mustang bodies for like £50.
Suppose if you found the right supplier you could cut the material costs, but not the time and labour...

Dunno if you've already looked on ebay, but there's a mustang body blank on at the mo - uk seller too. The seller mentions that it can be machined to your spec.

That's the way forward then Adam...if you can get them that cheap and thickness them yourself, that's a damn good price..
My ash was a one piece thicknessed blank, but I've been looking into an already planed/thicknessed plank, for about £40 guess that's a bit too much...However, I was quoted a rediculous sum at my local woodyard for planed piece...

These lot will make a body/neck from a template you send them: http://www.guitarbuild.co.uk/
Doubt it will be 50 quid though.

I saw these a while back and cringed at the thought of routing the neck pocket after the body shape has been cut.mark-s wrote:Dunno if you've already looked on ebay, but there's a mustang body blank on at the mo - uk seller too. The seller mentions that it can be machined to your spec.

I had the intention of churning out some guitars a few years ago but as pointed out; in the UK you will be lucky to source a decent blank for under £50. Painting it is another big cost if you use rattle cans, stuff like sanding sealer and grain filler all adds up before you've even considered the hardware.
The Jag-Stang i built cost me around £300 in the end and i already had some parts lying around for it at that. If its just an Offset you want you cant fault the Squier stuff, at them prices i'd go down the route of buying one of them and modifying it.

Used these a couple of times for bits, and they're very reasonable..! Good aftersales service too!
I can recommend their zebra buckers...and on eBay too, where you basically put an offer in everytime...
