Could it just be a Squier Jaguar neck with a different decal perhaps?

Hello, people of the internets.

I'm the one who took these pics. I didn't take any of the back of the headstock but it clearly says that these are made in China. Not in Japan.
The tremolo is certainly the same part as the one used for all of Fender Japan's Mustang models (there are a lot of japanese Mustangs and they sell pretty well so it must have been much cheaper to do that than to have a factory make a new tremolo for a limited run), but I don't know about the other parts.

For reference, Fender Japan Mustang prices start at about 65k yens new I think (the Squier is 40k).

Thank you oscillateur for clearing that up.

Have you tried playing one? If so, how do they compare with the MIJ Mustangs?

Nope, didn't try playing them.

I'm not a very good guitar player to be honest (I do simple and kind of noisy things) and I'm not sure I'd notice some of the differences between models that you guys would notice right away. Give me an analog synth or an effect pedal and things would be different :).

I can try to check some specific things if I see another one in a store though, if it's simple enough.

Ooh that tasty Campbell's Tomato Fiesta sure looks purty. Maybe not $600 purty, but it's rather nice to look at from here.

The body of my '71 Compstang was stripped when I got it, and CAR seemed a bit too complex for me to try, so I refinished it in Fiesta Red instead.

I think the color looks good on a Mustang.

i hate when people put out some demos ad the guitar is out of tune. tune the guitars before demoing them!
