octave junk for sure, but not all the way through the song...

sounds like too much mids for a big muff and there's different types of muff..hrrmm.. a certain ram's head production has more mids i believe ?

anyway, maybe just production but i like how the guitar cuts through so well yet the drums and and bass sound detailed too.. nice.

i find with lots of stuff like orange goblin, doomriders etc it gets a bit of a 'washed out' sound because it's just so damn loud and fuzzy you lose some definition in records because you can't feel it like you feel it at live volume levels.

It's obviously a Dopedevil-modded MK1 Tonebender with OC76s and a reverse bias feedback attenuator into a full tilt Matamp. Sounds like a sprague capacitor on the guitar's tone circuit too.

I agree about the high gain sounds used by Orange Goblin, washes out the detail, Electric Wizard too, I think it becomes a macho thing that they can't bring themselves to turn the gain pot DOWN.

The guitar is double tracked and panned left and right with the drums and bass compressed pretty hard and centred. I think they probably took a tip off Spinal Tap and got amps that could go to 11 to make this sound though.

i like the mixing, it forces people to fucking bother listening to stereo sound no dicking about. play mono, get half the sound of what's intended to hear, be a dick.

the octave up can get annoying but there's some good moments on this record.

on EW, dopesmoker is my fav; the part where the fuzz kicks in on funerapolis is forever my favourite moment in a song, it sounds less sterile than this, but many things go missing to the ear that isn't paying attention to how much awesome is going on in that record.

Yeah, fucking dickhead mono listeners, they'll get what's coming to them - a 2-dimensional listening experience and a kick in the neck from Kim!

xD i'm hypocrite because i've ran a 1/4 jack to mini jack to single aux into my stereo but it just does records no justice, i had that cable for a korg chaos pad though, i'll kick my own neck..or atleast, attempt.

i have a friend in japan who said 'the titles scare me shitless' to a boris dvd i gave her then ended up seeing them play a few times and letting me know it was fantastic, when she comes to visit me, i'll give her a few EW records, so she can either hate me or love me forever. or both.

I've heard this pedal make similar sounds through a bassman
