A while ago this would have been hard for me to choose, but now its easy, JAG:

Image

I used to use it as a second guitar, and maybe in a couple of songs. Then it just sort of hung around as a novelty for a while, but since putting the new pickup in it just blows everything else I own out of the water. It's very temperamental, noisy, banged up and uncomfortable, but its like driving the same car for 10 years, if somebody else jumped in they'd probably stall it, but you know just how to start it, know the clutch, know when to change gears to get the most out of it and know that when the fuel gauge is showing empty, you still have about 20 miles left.

Clean it still sounds thin, at least on the bridge, but if you stick some distortion on the guitar calmly unzips its trousers, slaps its globe size balls on the table and asks "what?". The thing that I really love though is that it can do this, while still sounding like a Jag.

The volume knob is gone because I kept hitting it with my arm, the high e-string tuner is slightly wonky, and its relic-ing itself nicely.

I love you jaggysopretty.

A lot of people don't care for them as players, but just love the look. I'm actually a little surprised how many of us play them as out go-to guitar, based on commentary in other threads.
That said, yes, try one :)

However, having tested out the Pawnshop Mustang in the past little bit, I think it might be my go-to if I owned one and put a proper Mustang trem system on it... that things played and sounded great in the store.

I've loved a ton that I've played. Some have been gash, but some are really tasty. Bit of a paradigm shift, but one I like. I like the shorter scale and the funny switching and the behind the bridge stuff you can do, lotsa fun.

It's all about the '78 Musicmaster for me these days....6 months in & I can't fault it (especially since I treated it to new saddles for improved intonation for the nation :D ). A lot of people might find a 1 pickup guitar limiting....I'm finding it liberating if anything. Forces me to focus on making tonal adjustments with my playing style rather than endless tweaking.

Christ this is nice. There's something overtly sexy about a fretless neck. If you ever decide to let this go, give me a shout.

Probably going to be my SX sst57 24" scale. It has a steel block trem, fender tex-mex pups, a jagmaster neck and 100k volume pot with 250 tone pots.
