I asked on offset, with no reply so might as well ask here instead

I'm going to be building a Telemaster and using mini wax stain also, as it happens.

Did you use any grain filler or anything .... to seal the grain before applying ?

This body is Poplar, it did not require any grain filler or sealer. I basically just sanded up to 320 and then hit it with the stain. The grain raised a bit so I lightly sanded with 320 and that took care of it. Feels pretty smooth and I am sure with each coat of Tru Oil it will feel better and smoother.
