Crate Power Block

Post by johnnyseven »

I'm looking to get one to use as a loud, clean easily portable gigging amp and for home practice with headphones, but can anyone tell me how much they were new? I see them on ebay going for between £100 - 130 but don't really want to buy one used for more than they cost new.

Does anyone know of anything similar that is available - load, clean, small, easily portable head with EQ controls that I can use with my 8 Ohm Marshall 1 x 12? I'm discounting the EHX 22 Calibre and 44 Magnum due to the need for a pre-amp or EQ pedal.

I can't quite remember how much they were new originally - £150 rings a bell...but then they went on sale somewhere and I got mine (as well as some others here) for £49 new.

I then sold it to Fran for a toffee apple and half a packet of Blackjacks.

Thanks Thom, £49 sounds like a steal.

I use Magnum 44 without a preamp pretty often.

I have a 22 Calibre and it sounds dull/dark to me on it's own.

If that's anything like the Joyo pedal I have, it's a poor imitiation of a Tech 21 Character Series pedal.

I have one. It sounds good but tends to cut out when using a power supply, not much good for live use.
