I really don't mind the decal, it is just seeing that nice walnut under an eight inch of poly that turns me off.

Didn't George Harrison have a rosewood strat? I forget now. Like there were only two made and one is owned by a guy at Microsoft.

Pretty sure it was a tele.

That strat though. Wow, that's uh, something else. Someone would love that.

George Harrison's rosewood tele he gave to Delaney Bramlett, who considered it his favourite for years. It was sold at auction in 2003. Was mostly used on/seen in Let It Be during it's Beatles tenure.

pics and info here, including talk of a rosewood strat that was sent to Hendrix... the idea being that they could easily launch an all-rosewood line if they got The Beatles and Hendrix using them first (maybe because they would be unavoidably pricier).

While looking at the Strat in this thread it suddenly struck me that I'd like to try a one-piece rosewood Fender neck (like the one-piece maple ones with no separate fingerboard... all lacquered, even).

definitely. I've long thought about getting warmoth or someone to make me one for a guitar project.

A local music store had a Custom Shop copy of that rosewood Tele some years ago that was way out of my price range at the time. I wonder now if I could afford it if it was still available.

Wasn't there a Japanese run of rosewood teles? They're really expensive, predictably.
