Squier Bronco Bass body shape question
Right chaps i am itching for a Mustang/Duo Sonic, my dad has some mahogany in his garage.
Is the Squier Bronco body the exact same as them? Because that would be the template.
He also asked if there are any other woods which are better than mahogany for a guitar body. I know some old Mustang bodies were made out of mahogany

Re: Squier Bronco Bass body shape question
The size of the body being an exact match is much less important than the bridge being placed correctly so the guitar will intonate and the neck pocket being a good fit for the neck you use.montheshakers wrote:Right chaps i am itching for a Mustang/Duo Sonic, my dad has some mahogany in his garage.

Mahogany is fine but is quite a heavy wood. Alder or ash are both common choices for body woods but I've heard of at least one guy who made a guitar out of common pine and was very pleased with the result despite the words of warning his choice of tonewood received from some quarters.
Wow that seller has some cool decals/stickers.h8mtv wrote:http://www.ebay.com/itm/150547303969?ss ... 1497.l2649brandon. wrote:Please explain that deathstar decal and how I can get one.

As for a (Squier) Bronco bass to make into a Mustang etc.. the neck pocket is way too big for a 6 string neck, it will need modifications on the body, but I'm certain the rest is fine apart from the route for the electronics etc. the bass hava humbucker sized route bridge side.

Nice, totally skipped over this!
Thanks!
Aye, Bronco has a more pronounced offset than the Duo.h8mtv wrote:You're welcome.
I now agree, there is a slight difference. Look at the contours of the pickguard just south of the smaller horn.
