Mid-2012 Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster Jaguar Mustang
Moderated By: mods
Would they get the whole brick wall background if they weren't happening outside Japan? I thought that was just the facebook and social media promo announcements.
If these are Japan only then that's just fucking weak. Fuck Squier.
But if they aren't, then I love Squier. Again. Always.

I had heard that the Mustangs were going to be a FSR and available in Japan only, then I saw the OSG thread and one on HC with the Jags and Jazzys... and the infamous "brick wall" that Squier uses in a lot of their promo shots...ekwatts wrote:Would they get the whole brick wall background if they weren't happening outside Japan? Fender isn't officially commenting on whether or not these will be available in the USA or not... but the unofficial rumors seem to suggest that, Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus, and he may be making late summer deliveries this year.
We'll just have to wait and see.

The only reason I'm having a hard time believing these are real is because there are 4 color options for the jag and jazzy. Squier seems to have the tendency lately to release totally awesome guitars but only in 1 or 2 colors at most.
If these are real, I love you squier, if they aren't real, then squier you need to make them a reality!

In the States, the Squier JMs are priced as such:lorez wrote:Is that the price for normal Squier VM guitars in the states? Hopefully these will be happening here soon as well
Vintage Modified
$499 MSRP
$299 street
J Mascis
$599 MSRP
$399 street
So, seems the new line will be 379 USD?
I looked at Hollywood Music in the UK and they sell the current VM line for 255 GBP. Think othomas is right, new line will probably be 300-320 GBP.
Fuck, do I want a new VM JM or an old VM JM? Like the colors and lack of strat jack on the new one. Like the simplicity of the old one. Never one to use tremolo much. Hope I get a chance to compare come summer.Noirie. wrote:I hope this means they don't discontinue the other vintage modified Jazzie's.
I realize that I just posted three times in a row, but they are three totally separate thoughts ... so hopefully that's no biggie?
I can't imagine the VM JM and Jags introduced so recently would be discontinued just yet, they're a good stepping stone up to the more fully featured models, either the new Squier Jags and Jazzies or even the Blacktops. I suppose the Jazzmaster looks redundant in light of the new models, but the Jaguar model is fine as it is with the humbuckers and versatile control setup. And strat jack.
But yeah, definitely think I'll be looking at a white Jaguar and then totally gonna modd.

ok, at those prices I now have something to try and save for by June/July/Whenever. I still would like a mascis jm but would like to try the jag & jm before deciding though.

a bit of both I think. you can't just transfer prices over to another economy and think that they should be the same. GBPs are a highly valued currency. when the value of a currency goes up, although within that economy you won't see much of a change, everything goes up in relation to the world economy; wages and the price of goods and services. eventually you would think they would see some savings in goods on the world market but I don't think it ends up working that way for most ordinary people. but if they leave the UK everything is going to be really cheap.singlepickup24 wrote:We definitely get a better deal on this side of the pond in terms of a straight exchange ... wonder if you Brits get paid more on average?
Or is it some sort of tariff thing?
but also if you've seen some of the posts from our UK friends here when they have shipped things from the states and elsewhere they do end up paying a lot of fees. the stores that sell this stuff in the UK basically have to pay some manner of the same fees for importing their goods.
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...
Obviously those fees can be mitigated by buying in bulk, but only the biggest guitar stores can afford to be ordering multiple copies of the same guitar in an order that will probably only consist of around 20 guitars from any particular distributor.
In fact, I'm sure somebody in a guitar shop told me a while back that they actually don't get to choose what guitars they get in many cases anyway. They just get whatever Fender's UK distributor decides they should have.
