Ashdown MAG300 Evo II (Fix'd amp content w/demo)
So I picked up that Ashdown amp I was talking about. It arrived today, and I was going to head into the studio tomorrow to hook it up to my cab and test it out, since I don't have a bass amp at my place. Here's where I'm an idiot.
I decided to try to get some sound out of my Vox pathfinder's speaker. I plugged the amp into the extension port on the back of the vox, got a *sizzzle* and now neither are turning on.
I can only assume I'm a fuckup and wasn't supposed to do that (300 watts into a 15 watt speaker) but if anyone thinks there's something else at play here it might make me feel better.
Update! Fixed! Just the Fuse! I still feel like an idiot.

Actually, come to think of it (and this is supposition only, so bear that in mind) I wonder if your blowing the speaker could not have caused a 0 load situation on the amp and the amp fried the speaker and the (no) speaker, in turn might have fried the amp....
I'm not sure if that's really possible. Just throwing it out there.
Also, have you checked the fuse/breaker on the amp to make sure it isn't blown or tripped?
It's pretty common for high power SS amps to have load protect measures in place in case of something like this happening.

one amps output connected to another amps output cannot be good in any way shape or form

This. An extension port is an output not an input. Some small combo amps will have a power amp input that allows you to use another amp through the speaker, but if it just says extension, then that's for running the onboard amp through an extension cab, so you just plugged a power amp into a power amp, which I've never heard of before, but it doesn't sound like a good thing.johnnyseven wrote:Isnt the extension port on an amp to output it to an extension cab?
