Major Strat GAS!
So I desire a strat. I was thinking one with thick as hell gloss on the neck, big headstock, and 3 single coils. I've been considering the malmsteen but his sig is too expensive in the U.S. Another one i liked was the EJ but the price is also too steep. I'd like to keep it wellllll under 1,000USD and the cheaper the better. I might be going fender again shortscale!!!!!!
Kinda sounds like you've described the ST68-TX that Thom(I think) and I have.
Tiny sooper glossy maple neck, fat head, and you can bypass the string tree on E and B just like EJ (although headstock is not recessed as much) and not only stay in tune better but also be buzz-free. Paid about ¥75,000 at Ishibashi Shibuya, four years back.

Haha, may not be a bad idea.
It's a keeper for those that like the specs, and maybe half of the charm for me was that I was blown away how the peeps at Ishibashi had it perfectly set up for the 10-46s I keep on it, as I've never had to adjust the bridge/truss/saddles on it, ever. Actually is of those "ZOMG todally plays itself lol" HC forum-type comment things.

Gotta agree. Both of the CV Strats are great. I've tested them side by side in-store against American $1000+ guitars, and, other than the lack of S-1, there was so very little difference in perceived sound and quality... certainly not $600ish worth of difference.mickie08 wrote:squier classic vibe 50's strat Great neck and you can not beat the price.

Lol your posts always manage to make me chortle with reckless abandon. I found that most of the shops in Japan have their guitars set up real nice. They have some unique one off fenders there which can be found for amazing prices if you know where to look.ultratwin wrote:Haha, may not be a bad idea.

Yeah, it was pretty much the opposite of my usual Guitar Center experience: the perfect selection of ready-to-go guitars in all colors (all nicely sorted and hanging in a row), workers didn't bother you yet seemed to have infinite knowledge, I think I would have left with a smile even if I didn't leave with anything.
i've also been wantin a strat lately--
has anyone played one of the modern player strats? are they any better than the squier CV?
is it really just 50 bucks for a fender decal or what?
