I didn't put a company name on my last build but i did use Fender font, because it is a Fender design. As for the Mosrite i intended to build a clone of Johnny Ramones so i did use their decal.xxhoixx wrote:Nice build! Can I ask why people put decals on their headstocks? I haven't built my own guitar from scratch yet but I feel that if it was truly my build then there's no point in putting a company's logo on it. I ask this out of curiosity.
Basically it depends on what you are trying to achieve and in most cases here; people are building guitars that are essentially Fender designs.
Thanks !! To answer the question:
1. It's an easy option as it's available for purchase.
2. It's a Fender design, & not my own.
3. Main reason ... I assembled, not really built much myself... so would feel a bit cheeky passing it off entirely as my own... so might as well give the credit to Fender, if no one else can take full ownership of its construction.
Having said all that, I would be just as happy to have my own personal decal... as discussed earlier in the thread. I'm just so so about it, it's just how it came about.
Received the Super Distortion tonight and have installed it. Much more to my preference.
One thing I want to ask, the guitar in general is very susceptible to microphonic clonks. I mean you move the guitar and the pickups amplify strap locks moving, pickups changes, arm rubbing, etc etc. It's pretty present... & it's quite distracting. The body is really lightweight and resonant, so is just this ? Anyway to improve it ?

Yesss! I've had that exact vision for several years now. Do it and send photos of your progress, please, please. And maybe I'll commission you..build number two for me...Silenus wrote:Do you think I can find such a body in pine ??? I adore my Squier CV 50's tele (conversed to esquire) but I want the body shape to be more .. slink and body-fitted like my contoured Mustang
