It was hovering at $1200, yet still under reserve. I have never been prepared to follow one like this out. But I had just sold a Gretsch and had enough to consider it. I have been longing for an old Jazzmaster for years, and had missed out on five of them in the past year. Just wasn't ready, too late, etc. I was hoping for a 63 because that's the year I was born. A bad refin is perfect, because it means it lost value, and I can also make whatever I want of it. In the last 32 seconds, it started ringing. I made a choice and it stuck. Even has a case.
The eternal question: White, Fiesta, CAR, or sunburst? I think we all know, deep down, that it needs to be a sunburst. But a solid color is easier to get right, and in my six years of painting, I have never been able to manage a good sunburst. Only this time I also have an airbrush. I have painted Fiestas before, mainly Broncos, and didn't hold onto them. This is one I plan on keeping. CAR would be nice, but I would have to tint it copper.
