Been playing my Ultra VI for nearly a year now... just sold my Hellcat VI and ordered a new one with SJAG-1 pickups...

Chances are the new Hellcat will be a better instrument than the Ultra VI, due to the pickups. The Duncan Design FG-103 (or whatever) in the Ultra VI are ok, but not great; the Duncan SJAG-1s in the new Hellcat will be a huge step up.
Aside from the pickups, the Ultra VI feels and looks great, and I love playing it. The tone is a little darker and less articulate than I want, kinda, and the coil split is completely useless, simply making the pickups quieter, not making them more single-coily... but I do like it. It's a bit lighter than my old Hellcat, haven't received the new one yet to compare on that front. The pickup switches are a little stiff, but work fine... with all the pickup combinations and tone control tweaking it's easy to go from thumping bass to melodic baritone.

Here's a comparison of the sounds of the old Hellcat VI and the Ultra VI I recorded last summer: http://soundcloud.com/ankhanu/sets/hc-ultra/

Here it is in action during one of our recent sets:

Whoa Joe Costello! I've met him before. He's a friend of my ex-girlfriend who is also a Costello. Small world man. Oh and good music!

I guess if you changed the strings out, kind of. I think the Ultracure looks more obese.

So weird. It's like Schecter made an unlicensed asian copy of one of their own guitars, special for robert smith.
