What's the fretboard radius of a 90's Mustang (65RI) ?
I have some birthday money that's burning a hole in my pocket. Got my eye on a '65 Reissue (CIJ) Fender Mustang from the 1990's. $695 used @ Emerald City in Seattle.
Can someone confirm what the fretboard radius on these guitars is? I'm hoping for 7.25" since I already have a Jaguar CP Special HH with a 9.5" radius.

Really, a 69RI? The shop's website claims it's a 65RI:Rox wrote:That's looking like a 69RI..... Nice one at that.

In any event, as long as the fretboard radius is 7.25" I'll be happy. I've wanted to get a Mustang for years, and this one in Olympic White will have been worth the wait if I get it.
There was one more picture of the headstock on the Emerald City Guitars website:

this brings me back when i bought my white mustang in 2007, i was so happy then.Armchair Bronco wrote:Is $695 a good price? It's in great shape, sounds awesome, and stays in tune. Maybe the shop might have a little room on the price.Thom wrote:They didn't make '65 RI's in the 90s. Either way it's 7.25" radius.
is it with red tort or brown, anyway it looks brown on the pic?
i would say go for it!

It's red tort. Basically the red tort / Olympic White version of my other Fender guitar, a Classic Player Jaguar HH Special:weeping_moon wrote:this brings me back when i bought my white mustang in 2007, i was so happy then.Armchair Bronco wrote:Is $695 a good price? I won't mind owning two guitars with the same finish scheme.

RED TORT ON OLY WHITE MUSTANG = 90'S MUSTANG.
its not a 65RI or a 69RI. its just a FENDER MUSTANG (classic series). if its CIJ it was made after 96.
this is a 90's fender classic series mustang. oly white / red tort
this is a 00's fender 69RI mustang puke white / brown tort. (i think its almost as ugly as scumbag sparkle. 2NAST)
this is a 00's fender 65RI mustang oly white / red tort
quickest and easiest way to tell the 90's mustang from the 65RI is that the 65RI has a slab body and the 90's mustang has a contour. also the 65RI has a big gap between the metal control plate and the pickguard. they made the pickguard shrunk on purpose to look like its older. dumb.

It's for the best, they're far from the greatest guitars in the world.Armchair Bronco wrote:Crap, went to the store today @ lunch -- ready to pull the trigger -- and learned that the guitar was sold several days ago!
NOW I AM SAD...
Guitars:
2014 American Deluxe Stratocaster
2013 Gibson SG 61RI
1998 Paul Reed Smith CE22

Ouch, I think they are good fun. Mine is a wonderful machine, sadly I do not like the neck, hence why I am parting with it.blane wrote:It's for the best, they're far from the greatest guitars in the world.Armchair Bronco wrote:Crap, went to the store today @ lunch -- ready to pull the trigger -- and learned that the guitar was sold several days ago!
