Just saw this on OSG's thread about the new Squier offsets:

"Apparently with the release of jags, jms & mustangs,
they will also release telecaster deluxes(white & black) & also 72 custom(black & sunburst)"

In ten years, MAXIMUM I htink fender will be all overpriced shit, and Squier will be the actual guitar company. Makes perfect economic/business sense, too.

Something about the Tele Deluxe has never looked quite right to me. Probably the giant pickguard. I seem to be in a very small minority, though.

With Squier bringing out proper Jaguars, Jazzmasters and hollowbody teles I really can't think of any real reason for me to purchase all that much from Fender. I do like the Marauder, mind you, which I admit I hated at first but it really grew on me.

Have you played one? I did for the first time a couple of weekends ago and it was the most disappointing Fender or Squier that I've played in a while. The fretboard radius felt too flat for the general feel of the neck and the bent saddle bridge just felt out of place. The whole thing felt clumsy and awkward.

Yeah, I've had an acoustic strum of one but I liked the fretboard. I like 'em flat. Agree slightly with the bridge; I'd rather have a fancy pants modern trem with nice chunky chrome saddles on there but it didn't offend me too much. If they had made it a hard tail it would have been an ideal candidate for totally gonn modd'ing with a bigsby, but that's really my only gripe.

I like flatter fretboards sometimes, but it felt at odds with the feel of the rest of the neck. Maybe I'm too used to the feel of MIJ Fenders. Not that it's MIJ but it has that sort of feel to it. I'm not even sure if it is different to other models that are somewhat similar like the blacktop jazzmasters or pawn shop mustangs. It just felt very flat.

might be tempted by a white one, but i've still got a list of about half a dozen squiers that i 'quite fancy', so won't get too excited. the bound CV custom tele is still top of my hit list.

If I could get all the pickup covers in the white, I'd really consider it. I don't think there's anything other than a black cover for that triplebucker.
