i'm not so keen on that particular burst, but i like les pauls a lot. the neck pickup of a les paul into a slightly driven amp is a wonderful sound to me.
the sheer money in originals going rate is mental, and bonamassa tours with 2 59's and a 60's! all pucker cost shitload originals.
think i'll stick to my vintage copy with it's burstbuckers.

Same here, I like Les Pauls - I've had my Epiphone LP Standard for 23 years now!Progrockabuse wrote:i'm not so keen on that particular burst, but i like les pauls a lot. the neck pickup of a les paul into a slightly driven amp is a wonderful sound to me.

dont get me wrong, they play and sound really nice. i just find them heavy and feel like i'm imitating slash while playing one. i used to own a wine red (kinda purplish) epi les paul, and and old harmony les paul copy. i didn't get on with either of them, they were both murder on my back. that being said, i do, however have a soft spot for les paul jrs (DC and SC) and black beautys (even though they're heavier than a standard)
The Heritage still makes them like they did in the old days... no weight reduction holes and no chambered bodies...
Living in Michigan I actually have access to quite a few dealers who sell them.. Almost all of the models I see in the shops though have been there for a really long time (the rubber guitar holder has rubbed off onto the neck finish) and as much as I want to love them... I just don't... I keep telling myself well, maybe a proper set-up and some fresh strings would help; but at $2300 that's a hell of a gamble to take.
On a side note why is it guitar shops always let their most expensive guitars live on the hooks with terrible set-ups and 3 year old strings?

Bulky neck heel? PRS?JJLipton wrote:I'm kinda over Gibson honestly. Someday i want a nice les paul or a es 175 but for now I'm very happy with PRS. While playing les pauls i always felt held back by the cutaway and bulky neck heel.

Touche'. Actually while playing lead I don't think it gets in the way.Mo Rawka wrote:Bulky neck heel? PRS?JJLipton wrote:I'm kinda over Gibson honestly.
