Burgundy Mist Fernandes "Sonic Youth" Strat

Post by westtexasred »

I bought this Burgundy Mist Fernandes "The Revival" Strat

I think it looks like the 80s Fernandes Strat that Lee Ranaldo plays (Link)

Very pretty. He used to endorse the Fernandes Vertigo, too.

Thanks! I used to have a Fernandes LE-2

ImageImage

But I wanted one with the Fender style headstock like the Sonic Youth "pink fern"

ImageImage

But actually now that I look at the headstock of Lee's strat I think that his is actually an LE-1.
It has the little pointy end and the same decal like the LE-1 on the right below.

Are these smaller than a standard Strat? If not Ranaldo must be a big dude the Strat he's playing in that last pic looks tiny...

It's just a standard sized strat.

I love those fernandes fender copies. I've never played a bad one and I've had quite a few in my hands over the last few years. Seems as though people like to muck about with them, stripping the finish, painting crazy patterns, ripping the necks off, routing the bodies, and other such stuff they wouldn't do to a "real" fender. But I've put more than a few back together and returned them to their former glory.

I even traded a pair of cheap shoes for the parts to a fernandes strat copy. I put it back together and gave it to a buddy who's financial situation was much more dire than my own. I wanted him to have a nice guitar that he could really enjoy.

knowing you, you'll just sell it but man what a great guitar you've got there. If you do want to sell it let me have dibs.

Fair question, but yes, I'm addicted to guitar porn and it's so lovely that I need to see it again and again.

I always figured the unseen bedroom was where the magic happens.

That Fernandes is hot though westy... all the burgandy mist '60s-style strats around here lately have been making me faint.

Also I saw your Jaguar somewhere online the other day, pretty sure it wasn't your pic/one you've posted of it, but definitely same guitar... can't find it now, nor remember where I saw it... I guess it could have been your pic, but it didn't look like it.

Yes,5,that's the tipping point, when I can't fit any more on the couch. Once I hit 6 they start falling off.

Yes I wanted a Burgundy Glo Strat. My best friend has a '61 strat that he had refinished in Burgundy Mist in the 80s.This is a pic of it I took in 1987 but now the color of the photo has changed.

I would love to see that if it is a photo of the the Jag before I owned it.

Nice score on the burgundy mist strat. Color looks really nice.
