I built a prototype for a guitar, the final version of which a friend ending up building for me.

I still had the pickup ring from the prototype and decided to build something with a Squier Mini neck. I love the old student size Fenders. The body is poplar. EMG pickup, cheap from StewMac. Some odd knobs. A Duo bridge. Rattlecan finish. It's very fun to play.
