Anyone have any experience with these? Where and what is the best non vintage price for one of these? (read "cheap")

Yeah, I bought one of those for my Mustang. It was the best deal for miles around and still is by the looks of things.

If $9 is too much for you, maybe make one out of plastic and cover it in tinfoil....

Thanks, I'll go for it. This project will be enough of a struggle without a tinfoil covered hunk of plastic on it.

Actually, the tinfoil idea is pretty good. You'd want to superglue it down and perhaps spray some gloss acrylic over the top to ensure it's protected from flaking off.

Along those lines, the control plate on my old Japanese-made guitar seems to made of clear plastic with a metallic pale gold sprayed on the back.

these look like shit. something looks off, and i'm not sure it would even fit or look right.

This isn't going on a Mustang, I was worried about flaky chrome, thinness, etc.
