Ive always liked the prs guitars ive run across. But they're pretty rare. Ive only ever run into a handfull of them in shops. One or two at the most. I like their deep reds and blue Colors a bit more, but id play this for sure.

My first electric was a PRS and they are very nice sounding and well made.

I remember when Gibson sued PRS so they couldn't make the Singlecuts because they claimed buyers were too dumb to know the difference between the PRS and Gibson.

Of course, Gibson eventually lost the case and PRS cranked up the production of the Singlecuts once again.

For me, I am not PRS guy so I sold it for my AVRI Jaguar.

There mere fact that you referred to it was a weapon made me smile. I used to hate flamed maple but somewhere along the line i caught the bug for curly quilt style tops. I still somewhat dislike super tight straight line grains.

Always wanted a PRS singlecut, just a relatively cheap one like the SE Tremonti though.

I dig them, don't really like the double cut PRS' but always liked these.

I play a JJ Electra, along with a few other brands, when PRS were being sued by Gibson and stopped production they began to make a similar model - albeit with a Jazzmasterish butt.

I've never really liked those kind of finishes though, prefer tobacco burst really.

My JJ is a blue burst:

Yeah it is, I've swapped the pickups around now as they were really unbalanced. I'm still not all that happy with the pickups though, I'm thinking of swapping them out for some low gain Bill Lawrence L500s or maybe some Lace Alumitones, Q-tuners look interesting too but are too high output for what I'd want I think.

Looks very similar to my housemate's guitar which sounds plays AMAZINGLY, although it's super heavy.

It's a bit tobacco-ish just doesn’t have the final black outer shading of the burst.

Is it in anyway different to the other PRS you have, like neck profile, frets etc?

It's very les paul really. Thicker body, lower output pups. thicker neck, etc. I'm actually going to return this one, as i just cant get along with the dark burst color. First time i ever returned a guitar.

Darker finishes are classier on the flamey tops IMO, because bright stage lights (or sunlight) really make colours over flamed maple jump out like crazy... with a lighter burst your guitar can just look like tinsel on a pine twig as you move around (they're different from every angle, in every photo etc...)
My cherryburst LP kinda looks tobacco indoors, but then outside when the sun hits the flame it looks like Hot Dog Stand (for all you Win95 users).
